Just ahead of their first birthday, all puppies from Elvira and Camper’s first litter are happy, healthy, and thriving. Current weights range from 50–85 lbs, aligning well with their Embark health and genetic testing estimates.

This picture was too cute not to post. This is Marcy and Roxanne. From my last litter, their names have changed but I think the golden girls would approve

This little girl may be small right now, but she is tiny and mighty in all the best ways. Confident, playful, and full of heart, she loves to roughhouse with her mom and isn’t afraid to hold her own. She has completed Embark health and genetic testing with excellent results, and her estimated adult weight is around 60 pounds. She’s healthy, happy, and developing beautifully. With her fun, spirited personality balanced by affection, she enjoys playtime just as much as being close to her people. She would make a wonderful Valentine’s Day gift for the right family. She is able to go home as early as February 1, or I’m happy to keep her until February 14 if you’d like a Valentine’s Day pickup. She’s looking for a loving home that will appreciate her confidence, energy, and sweet nature.

This week, the puppies are gaining a wonderful sense of independence in their big kennel. With the warmer weather, they’ve been able to spend time out on the large deck, soaking up the sunshine and enjoying some fresh air (and plenty of vitamin D!). We’ve officially begun crate training, and I’m introducing it in a very positive, comforting way. The puppies receive their milk while in their crates, helping them associate the crate with calmness, security, and something they love. Today they’ll spend about 20 minutes in their crates, and tomorrow we’ll increase that to 30 minutes. Our routine is intentional: the puppies play and explore on the deck until they’re happily tired and thirsty, then they settle into their crates for milk and a nap. This helps them see the crate as a safe, cozy place to rest. Starting tomorrow, we’ll also begin leash training so that by the time they go home, each puppy will be comfortable and confident walking on a leash.

Litter Update This week has brought some big milestones! All of the puppies now have their teeth, so Mom is nursing a few at a time as they transition more fully to independence. They’re up and moving constantly, confidently walking on their own, and most are already using the Astroturf potty area. The puppies have graduated to the large kennel in the garage, where they have plenty of space to play, explore, and build confidence. They’re enjoying new enrichment activities, including a small slide and a wobble board, and they’re handling these challenges beautifully. They are eating solid food, growing well, and thriving. On colder nights, they still come inside to stay warm and comfortable. Next week we’ll begin crate training, and the following weekend we’ll start leash introduction as part of their continued socialization.

The puppies had their very first bath and gentle rinse today! I like to start them early so bath time is a positive, low-stress experience and something they’ll be comfortable with as adults. Everything was done with their comfort in mind—the bathroom was kept at 95°, the water at a cozy 102°, and the kennel is currently 85°. I’m very careful to avoid spraying their faces and to keep the experience calm and reassuring. They’re now happily demanding some milk from Mom, although Elvira would prefer they settle down just a bit first before nursing. 💕🐾

🐾 Big Puppy Milestones Today! 🐾 The puppies officially turned three weeks old today, and it was a BIG day for learning and exploring! They had their very first taste of puppy mush, and let’s just say opinions were formed 😄 We also celebrated a win for little Red Collar (Rose), who is already figuring out how to use the Astroturf potty area instead of her sleeping space—a huge step at this age! Watching these tiny brains turn on and connect the dots is one of my favorite parts of raising a litter. So proud of these babies! 💕🐶

About Elvira
Meet Elvira – the sweetest, goofiest little girl you'll ever meet! This 61-pound bundle of joy is the perfect mix of playful and affectionate. Whether she's running around at the dog park or curling up in your lap for a cuddle, Elvira's happy-go-lucky personality will steal your heart. Elvira is not only fun-loving, but she’s also incredibly gentle and soft-footed, moving quietly and gracefully through any space. She plays well with all the dogs at the park, but has the confidence to stand up to the big dogs, holding her own without hesitation. Despite her spunky attitude, she’s as sweet as can be, always eager to snuggle up for some love. Her genetic testing confirms that she’s a low-shed pup, so I don’t have to worry about constant shedding. Plus, her single coat makes grooming a breeze! She is a happy, gentle, and fun dog who brings endless joy and comfort to our lives.

Lara was professional, knowledgeable and delightful to work with when adopting my new puppy named Rosie! After I chose Rosie on New Year’s Day 2026, Lara from BD Love Puppies kept me informed on her growth and activities through regular pics, texts and videos. The big delivery day to my area arrived on February 7th, and Rosie became my little sweetheart. She’s healthy, funny, cuddly, smart and sassy like most puppies—we are bonded after only two weeks!! Lara’s goody bag for new parents was awesome—it contained her medical records as well as food and a large astroturf potty training pad for indoor use. Very helpful items for getting started!! Lara has stayed in touch to answer any questions and is a great resource. It’s obvious she really cares about the puppies she raises. I highly recommend BD Love Puppies/Lara!!

We had the best experience working with Lara. Bumble has already grown to be such a special part of our family and he is such a handsome fella. You can tell that Lara puts a lot of knowledge and integrity into her pups and breeding program. We couldn’t have been happier. A few highlights for us that helped us choose Lara: 1) She allowed us to be on a waitlist without any deposit. A puppy is such a big decision and we wanted to make sure it was the exact right fit for our family. Being on the waitlist allowed us to see how many puppies, the gender breakdown and even come and meet the pups before having to make a payment. 2) Also, Lara set us up with a live camera that allowed us to see the pups during the delivery. Elvira ended up delivering through the night so we only caught a few of the births. But it was still fascinating! We also got to access the camera and watch the puppies as they grew. 3) Lara took a lot of time to care for us as an individual family. She created us our own album to see weekly pictures of all the dogs at first and then our specific dog once families had picked their puppies. She also allowed us to come and visit the dogs both before the puppy picking and after. She was very responsive with any questions we had. 4) Lastly, she worked with me to organize getting the puppy home a few days earlier than expected so that I could surprise my husband with him as a birthday present! Lara is wonderful and has created a little family of the pup parents! It was a true joy to work with her. And we look forward to continuing our relationship.

Lara is what you want to see in a breeder. She takes her time to respond with honest and detailed answers and is very quick to respond before and during the process. The mommy and pups are very healthy and well taken care of. She is a person who does it for the love of the animal.
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
