Chesapeake Bay Retriever

Boykin Spaniel

Chesapeake Bay Retriever
About Billie
Billie oozes raw talent and honesty in the field. At home she’s a love bug. At 55 pounds she does rock the boat.

Chesapeake Bay Retriever
About Chester
Chester exemplifies the classic Chesapeake Bay Retriever— driven, intelligent, and biddable, with the physical power and mental toughness. He is a strong, athletic male with excellent balance, correct structure, and the dense, water- resistant coat that defines the breed. In the field, Chester is all business. He hits the water hard. Chester demonstrates exceptional marking ability, persistence, and a confidence. He handles well under pressure, maintains focus, and keeps a good attitude. At home he is as lovable and sweet as they come. Happy to play with the family and other dogs or lay at your feet chewing his favorite bone. His disposition is second to none.

Boykin Spaniel
About Scout
Scout is a lover. Never met anyone he doesn’t like. Very curly dense coat. Excels in Upland hunting.
Great health testing

Boykin Spaniel
About Briar
Briar is a brown clown. Finds fun in everything she does. The conformation judges loved that. Bird crazy is an understatement. Unbelievable water attitude. Will hunt ducks in the morning and quarter a quail field all afternoon.

Big Medicine Kennel reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Boykin Spaniels.
Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Collie Eye Anomaly (CEA), Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A), Exercise Induced Collapse (EIC)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
