Meet the breeder

I'm Emily B., the breeder behind Birkin’ Paws located in Atchison, KS. We’re a small family breeder dedicated to raising healthy, happy, and well-socialized Dachshunds. Our dogs are part of our family and raised right in our home with plenty of love and care. We focus on quality temperaments, great structure, and lifelong companions for every family.

Q. & A. with Emily

  • Why did you start breeding?

What started as a family’s love for our first Dachshund has grown into something much bigger. Watching our three dogs bring so much happiness into our lives inspired us to share that same joy with others. We treat every puppy as part of the family until they’re ready for their forever homes.
  • What makes your program special?

I wouldn’t say our breeding program is special. It takes a lot of patience to care for the puppies. I say patience because you know they’re going to get bigger and have a personality of their own. You’re ready to get to that point, so ready you get excited for how each one will be and act. Soon that thin patience’s of seeing how their personalities will be, becomes the reality of them leaving. We love them as our own pets but so excited for their next journey.
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Our puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies include smooth and longhaired coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include gray (blue), cream, red, chocolate, chocolate and tan, blue and cream, black and tan, and dapple. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Emily is the best!! She made getting my puppy the best and easiest experience. I could not have been happier with how attentive she was. I was consistently updated and never once had to worry about a thing. 10/10. Highly advise!!
