Q. & A. with Elzie

  • Why did you start breeding?

We've had many breeds including Malamutes, Samoyeds, Border Collies, and many years ago, we bred Schipperkes. It was a lot of fun and my kids really enjoyed it. We ended up getting an Aussie and enjoyed our blue merle male so much that when he passed away we decided to get another Aussie and now have a wonderful breeding program! We couldn't be happier with our choice of breed.
  • What makes your program special?

By the time you pick up your puppy, I will have spent countless hours with them. I work on getting them to come when called, (I will use the name you have chosen), potty training, crate training, and hold and pet them daily so they are well used to being handled. I have gotten allot of positive feedback from buyers about the ease of potty training and ease of training. I love and miss them all!
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include black, red merle, blue merle, and red. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Black Canyon Corral Aussies in Idaho was a positive, professional, and heartwarming experience. From our first contact, it was clear that Elzie Brown is a dedicated breeder who genuinely cares for his puppies from birth through their transition to their forever homes. Throughout the waiting process, he shared regular photos, videos, and updates on our puppy’s development, which made the experience exciting and helped us feel connected to him before bringing him home. When we picked him up, it was clear how much care had gone into early handling and socialization—he was already comfortable with basic handling and familiar with crate training. The puppies appear to be raised in a safe, well-managed environment with plenty of daily interaction, which shows in their confidence. Our puppy is exactly as described—beautiful, very smart, healthy, a handful and loving. We highly recommend Black Canyon Corral Aussies to anyone looking for a well-bred, loved, and intelligent Australian Shepherd. Dealing with Black Canyon via Good Dog made the process seamless and comfortable. Thank you for our wonderful new addition.

In January we lost our beloved dog Kaycee. We thought we would wait for a year to search for our next dog. I accessed Good Dog and found Black Canyon Aussies. Elzie Brown responded immediately to my call. He went into detail regarding the characteristic of the mom and dad of the puppy I was interested in. We needed a calm demeaner. We purchased a female tri. Elzie sent us pictures and text on each phase of the puppy we named "Hanna". The quality of this puppy is phenomenal. At 9 weeks she is fetching a ball and returning it to me. Her intelligence is impressive.

If you are looking for an Aussie, I highly recommend working with Elzie. He has a wealth of knowledge about the breed. Black Canyon is not a backyard puppy mill. Elzie screens applicants to ensure pup and new owners are well matched. He cares for his pups from the minute they are born and long after they go to their forever home. Elzie kindly meet me halfway for pickup, it went very smooth. By the time I meet Elzie I felt like we were old friends. My Loki is perfect in every way. He is well socialized with a very strong but sweet temperament. Exactly what one would expect from a well bred Aussie. He is a cuddly fireball. My kids and grandkids come to see him every day. He listens to their commands, but I’m happy to say I am his favorite. Loki has already shown his instinct to heard, he loves being outside. He is also showing an interest in agility training. I’m so appreciative of Elzie for this amazing pup.
