I'm Rachelle L., the breeder behind Black Cow Kennels located in Bowie, TX. Our program is simple, we strive to raise puppies with a purpose. Those that excel breed standards and our customers, as well. Australian Shepherds are our family's passion. We take the time to ensure each litter we produce is done so with the upmost care.

Why did you start breeding?
I came about my first Aussie in 2012 and a full sister to him in 2013. That female has started my breeding program, she is the epitome of the breed standard. Excellent build, structure, color, and temperament. We do not breed often, but when we do we are breeding for puppies that will go on to have a purpose and make a family happy for many, many years.What makes your program special?
We pay attention to detail in our program. Producing puppies that are able to be diverse in the environment they are put into is key, whether that be a working home or not. We are committed to going the extra mile for each puppy that is born at our home. We ensure that each puppy has had the best veterinarian care, socialization, basic training and love before they join their new families.What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include black, red merle, blue merle, and red. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

"The price on one of our puppies depends on which sire and dam the puppy is a product of. Price is also dependent on limited or full registration. Placing a deposit on a particular litter or specific puppy ensures that you are either holding your place in line or reserving the right puppy for your family. To place a deposit, all potential new families must schedule a call with us or set up an in-person meeting before a deposit will be accepted."

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Multiple Drug Sensitivity (MDR1), PawPrint Genetic Panel (Breed Specific)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
