I'm Serafima P., the breeder behind BlackberryBRT located in Philmont, NY. An AKC Breeder of Merit, experience breeding dogs since 1974, originally Black Russian Terriers, now Russian Tsvetnaya Bolonkas. I breed for health and longevity above all else and within standards. I health test extensively and strive to produce the very best dogs possible.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    I got into breeding originally in Russia all the way back in 1974, breeding world class Black Russian Terriers, and continued to do so when I finally had space and a beautiful home in Upstate New York. I recently fell in love with Bolonkas ten years ago, a beautiful, intelligent, and loyal lap dog. They make wonderful companions.

  • What makes your program special?

    I health test extensively, close to the standard, and I delve deep into pedigrees to prevent hereditary issues and aim to breed the very best dogs possible. I care deeply about health and longevity, dogs that are physically capable and intelligent, as well as a beautiful and loving.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies include brown and black. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Serafima

Serafima has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.

Serafima partners with buyers to find the best match as the puppies develop and their personalities take shape. Typically, matches are finalized when the puppies reach about 6 weeks old.

“We evaluate the preferences and needs of each prospective buyer and match the most suitable puppies to the most suitable owners. Our goal is to ensure that everyone receives the perfect puppy.”

Price

Puppy prices include a $500 non-refundable deposit and between $2,500 - $3,500 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“The price includes AKC registration, deworming, vaccinations depending on age, partial toilet training, veterinarian conducted puppy examination before going home, and lifetime support and advice. All of our puppies are guaranteed to be in good health and pure breed. Deposit is included in the final purchase price.”

Contract & health guarantee

Serafima may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase.   • Eye Examination (rDVM, not registered with OFA)

    Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.

    I recently lost two beloved senior dogs within a span of 3 weeks at 18 and 15. My soul dogs since my late 20s. In the absence of children, my dogs were my babies and while I know I can never replace them, I didn’t know how not to be a dog mom so I started exploring the idea of getting a puppy.
