I'm Les and Jennifer H., the breeder behind BlackRidge Labradors located in Jerome, ID. We are committed to breeding Labrador retrievers that conform to the breed standard, have great temperaments, are smart, and are eager to please in the field and the home. We health test all our dogs and compete in conformation AKC dog shows as well as performance sports such as Fast cat and Dock diving.
Q. & A. with Les and Jennifer
Why did you start breeding?
When we got our first Labrador she was bought as a pet. As she grew, our breeder asked if we would be interested in letting her show Annie in conformation AKC shows. We were excited about the prospect and they were agreeable to allowing her to have a litter of puppies. We fell in love with the process and Annie became our foundation for BlackRidge labradors. We hope every puppy we produce has Annie's temperament and gentleness and represents everything about the breed that we love.
What makes your program special?
We are still learning and growing as breeders. Our goal is to not only improve the breed and breed to the standard, but to improve our program and produce happy, healthy, puppies that will become beloved members of our puppy families' lives. Nothing brings us more happiness than seeing our pups in homes where they are adored and having continued contact as they grow.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include black, chocolate, and yellow. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
