I'm Natalie C., the breeder behind Blue Haven Collies located in Hartford, MI. Our Collies are fully genetically health tested for all major Collie and canine-related health issues. All puppies are vet checked, dewormed, given first immunizations and heart-worm prevention prior to leaving our home at 8 weeks of age. We hand raise our puppies using the Puppy Culture program.
Q. & A. with Natalie
Why did you start breeding?
The love of the breed began decades ago, with my first encounter with a Collie as a child. It is because of this, that I have devoted myself to Collies to preserve the breed and strive to provide quality pets as companions for those who love the Collie.
What makes your program special?
With our focus on standard, health, and temperament, we have spent a great deal of time researching and tracking down suitable Collies for our program. When we have a litter of Collie pups, they are born and raised in our home, right in our living room! We focus on early neurological stimulation from birth as well as socialization with our other Collies and new experiences throughout their first 8 weeks.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

Breeder-Reported Testing
Excellent level
Blue Haven Collies reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Collies.
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
