Meet the breeder

I'm Blue Star D., the breeder behind Blue Star Dachshunds located in Proctor, MT. At Blue Star Dachshunds, we raise AKC registered pups with soft coats and calm, loving temperaments. Our dogs enjoy outdoor adventures and cozy evenings. We focus on health, temperament, and socialization to produce confident, loyal companions for active or relaxed families.

Q. & A. with Blue Star

  • Why did you start breeding?

Amber fell in love with Dachshunds when she brought home her first long-haired pup. Over 8 years ago, she began breeding to raise calm, well-adjusted companions. After parting ways with Martin Dachshunds over ethical differences, she founded Blue Star Dachshunds—a small, thoughtful program centered on health, honesty, love, and raising dogs from the heart.
  • What makes your program special?

Blue Star Dachshunds is dedicated to raising family dogs with beauty, health, and heart. We focus on quality, not quantity. Our dogs are part of daily life—from quiet evenings to forest adventures. We provide safety, ease anxiety, and prioritize health and nutrition to raise calm, well-socialized puppies that grow into confident, loving companions.
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Our puppies include miniature and standard sizes. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include piebald, cream, chocolate, brindle, fawn (isabella) and tan, chocolate and cream, and dapple. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

I had the best experience getting my puppy from Blue Star Dachshunds! This was the first time I was getting a dog on my own with little to no help. During the process they were very communicative and answered any questions I had. You can tell while talking with them they are knowledgeable about this breed of dog and they ensure the puppies are going to safe and loving homes. I 100% recommend getting your puppy through them. I LOVE my little scout and can’t wait to see him grow :)
