I'm Carolyn S., the breeder behind Bluegrass Labradors located in Wilmore, KY. We breed each litter of puppies with the goal of superior temperament, health, conformation, movement, and the natural ability and drive to hunt. We take great pride in our dogs, and they produce outstanding puppies. We strive to maintain versatility within the breed.
Q. & A. with Carolyn
Why did you start breeding?
Carolyn got into breeding Labrador Retrievers when she wanted to combine her knowledge in veterinary medicine and dog training with her passion for raising healthy, temperamentally sound puppies that are purposefully bred. Building her current breeding program has been her life's work over the past 8 years.
What makes your program special?
In addition to having fully heath tested breeding dogs, the ways Carolyn raises her puppies is a large part of what sets our program apart from others. We use protocols from Puppy Culture and Avidog, as well as other working dog protocols that we've developed over the years raising gun dogs and service dogs. Our puppies are heavily socialized with dogs, people, kids, and different environments.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include black, chocolate, and yellow. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and a kennel on my property.
