Nestled by the Ohio River, we love and care for quality Newfoundlands and strive to provide the best quality puppies! Our dogs have excellent health certifications and all have optimal Newfoundland breed standard qualities! Why did you start breeding?
Newfoundlands have been my passion since I was a child! I grew up raising these gentle giants as my best furry friends! My family is so passionate about the breed and the breed standards, we carefully selected our dogs for our program. We live in the country on a small farm and our dogs are raised with other animals and daily interactions with children. A newf is always by our side!What makes your program special?
We have very healthy and optimal dogs and all have proven to be optimal Newfoundland standard. We have constant interaction with our newfs and they all are part of the family! Some of our previous puppies have gone to homes to be trained in therapy certifications and water rescue, because they are just that amazing! Your gentle giants will be uniquely socialized & ready for a full wonderful life!What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our Newfoundland puppies include white and brown, white and black, black, and brown. Cavapoo puppies are blenheim. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

After buyers complete the application and screening process, Sarah partners with them to find the best puppy match.

Poppy is a stunning 22 pound F1B REVERSE cavapoo! She is from championed cavalier lines and a very healthy and hearty bloodline! Poppy is adored by all and is incredibly smart, willing to please, easy, loving dog! She brings a smile and a laugh to all who meet her! Her mom is a F1BR cavapoo and her dad is a championed cavalier King Charles spaniel.

Ruth, sweet sweet Ruth! She is your dream nanny like Newfoundland. Man’s best friend, a big teddy bear, such a loyal companion, I could go on and on! She is very personable, loves her family and her people. She’s such a perfect member of our family and program! She is tall, thick, very sturdy, has more endurance than my other newfs. In a gentle way she does enjoy a long walk and full day. She also would enjoy laying on the front porch at your feet while you drink lemonade and read a good book lol Ruth has a flawless temperament, such caring eyes and a loving soul. Her pups are just so sweet and chubby and lazy haha! Her qualities and features are so beautiful and so sought after! Her pups have beautiful futures ahead of them!

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).

+8My husband and I had looked for a reputable Newfie breeder for almost a year. We almost gave up but luckily found our way to Sarah and Bluegrass River Newfoundlands. She was excellent to work with. She was incredibly communicative, knowledgeable of the breed, forthcoming with providing the paperwork for health testing of the parent dogs, and sent pictures of our puppy almost daily until it was time to pick her up. Even afterwards, she was available to answer questions. I texted her about something 3 months after bringing our puppy home and she still was so prompt in her responses. She clearly cares very deeply about her dogs and puppies, and that is something that was really important to me in finding a breeder. I wholeheartedly recommend that anyone looking to add a Newfie to their home consider working with Sarah. If and when we feel ready to bring another Newfie into our home, we will certainly be reaching back out to her!

When my husband and I started throwing around the idea of getting a Newfoundland, we knew we would want to work with an ethical, educated, compassionate, and informative breeder. Sarah was easy to work with. She shared pictures and updates weekly as our puppy grew. We lived close, so we got to go visit after his first vaccinations. We met the puppy’s parents and interacted with them, and they were gentle and friendly.
