Bluwater Newfoundlands

Joan L.

Breeder of Newfoundlands

Meet the breeder

I'm Joan L., the breeder behind Bluwater Newfoundlands located in Islip, NY. We are a small hobby kennel. We enjoy showing our dogs in conformation, obedience, water, and draft work. Our dogs are raised in our home and are family members first. They are also all health-checked and evaluated before being used for breeding. In our breeding program, good health and temperament are essential, cuteness is guaranteed, and lots of love is always included.

Q. & A. with Joan

  • Why did you start breeding?

As responsible breeders, we understand the very important role that breeders undertake; that today’s breeders are the guardians of the future Newfoundlands. Our goal is to breed quality puppies and preserve the line of these incredible companions. We strive to maintain the unique characteristics of the breed while placing an emphasis on producing puppies of superior health, standard, and conformation.
  • What makes your program special?

A lot of thought, time, and effort goes into the research for each planned breeding. As reputable breeders, we do our best to produce healthy puppies by performing the necessary health checks on all of our breeding dogs. We use contracts and will always take back a dog if you are no longer able to keep it. We truly love our puppies and know you will too! We pride ourselves on helping all of our adopting families find the right fit for their needs and lifestyle.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
