Mama Vika’s last vaccines were almost 4 years ago and she’s still showing high antibodies! Titering is the way to go vs. over vaccinating, especially since she has vaccine reactions. ☺️ Plus, $50 for the titer vs. $$$ for vaccines is way more affordable!

Charlie is doing great in her home! 🩷

While they certainly are still wild and learning manners, they are catching on quickly to sitting and asking for attention vs jumping. Their impulse control is still low, so they still make the wrong choice half the time, but they are improving so well. I have been having the kids train them, too, so they don’t just focus on what I have or say. I can’t believe they start to leave next week. Time has flown by!

Well, it’s no wonder they scored so high on their evaluations — these guys are true to their parents! I had just told a coworker this morning that i was worried they’re getting close to figuring out the pen. Leave it to Tula, our keeper, to figure out a clip came undone from their jumping. If anyone asks what it’s like raising a confident litter, I’ll send them this video. Thankfully no one was hurt! Our house, however…🥴 I hope the new owners are ready for them lol. They will be a handful, but smart as a whip and sweet as can be! Looks like they’ll be staying in their crates when we’re gone now.

Piggy backing off the last post — the temperament test is just a guesstimate on what each puppy’s personality MAY be like as an adult. This is not fool proof or set in stone. The pups scored mostly 5’s due to how they are being raised: confident explorers who have been encouraged to problem solve, play, and have had a good amount of socialization already. If you have any questions or concerns about your puppy’s scores, please message me and I will explain my interpretation of it and what we see here at home with them. They are all rockstars just like their parents! ☺️ * the trainer did not follow the Volhard Puppy Aptitude Test scoring system — she was taught at her training academy to score with 6 being a confident/difficult dog, and 1 being a very fearful dog.

The puppies had their temperament tests this morning! They were brought to a new location to be individually evaluated by 2 strangers (dog trainers). Here’s a breakdown of each score with 0 being no response: Mostly 6’s- Strong desire to be pack leader Has a predisposition to be aggressive to people or other animals and will bite Should be only placed in an experienced home Mostly 5's - Also has leadership aspirations May be hard to manage and has the capacity to bite Should not be placed into an inexperienced home Too unruly to be good with children and elderly people, or other animals eeds strict schedule, loads of exercise and lots of trainin as the potential to be a great show dog with someone who understand dog behavior Mostly 4’s - Can be a high-energy dog and may need lots of exercise Good with people and other animals Can be a bit of a handful to live with Needs training, does very well at it and learns quickly Great dog for second time owner. Mostly 3's - The kind of dog that makes the perfect pet Best choice for the first-time owner. Rarely will buck for a promotion in the family Easy to train, and rather quiet Good with elderly people, children, although may need protection from the children Choose this pup, take it to obedience classes, and you'll be the star, without having to do too much work! Tidbits: The puppy with mostly 3's and 4's can be quite a handful, but should be good with children and does with training. Energy needs to be dispersed with plenty of exercise. Mostly 2’s - Fearful, shy and needs special handling. Will run away at the slightest stress in its life. Strange people, strange places, different floor or ground surfaces may upset it. Often afraid of loud noises and terrified of thunder storms. When you greet it upon your return, may submissively urinate. Needs a very special home where the environment doesn't change too much and where there are not children. Best for quiet, elderly couple. If cornered and cannot get away, has a tendency to bite. Mostly 1's - So independent that he doesn't need you or other people. Doesn't care if he is trained or not - he is his own person. Unlikely to bond to you, since he doesn't A great guard dog for gas stations! Do not take this puppy and think you can change him into a lovable bundle - you can't, so leave well enough alone.

First night sleeping in individual crates! There was some fussing, but they’re too tired to really care 😆

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Patellar Luxation
Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.
Congenital Deafness (BAER, registered with OFA)
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
DNA Disease Panel
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
