Meet the breeder

I'm Michele C., the breeder behind Boundless Hearts Australian Shepherds LLC located in West Union, IA. My husband and I converted part of the equipment/horse barn into a kennel and fenced off part of the old horse pasture for their outdoor play area. Boundless Hearts adult dogs will also be boundary trained and have full access to the entire acreage as well when supervised. They'll enjoy their daily adventures of tree obstacle courses, outbuilding scavenger hunts, critter searching, water play, fetch, and of course the zoomies.

Q. & A. with Michele

  • Why did you start breeding?

2020 will be my first year of breeding. I fell in love with my first Aussie in 2014. Through training him and getting involved with performance venues I developed a love for the breed that I have never felt with any other. I've been an animal lover/owner all my life.
  • What makes your program special?

My goal is to raise pups using Puppy Culture and prepare them for potential therapy/service work. There is a huge gap for service trainable dogs that needs to be filled. My goal is to help fill that gap. Raising dogs with excellent temperaments and willingness to work and educating the general public that all breeds need to be considered. Evaluations should be made dog by dog.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in a kennel on my property.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about working with Michele. She exceeded all of my expectations from start to finish. She is incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, kind, and thoughtful in every interaction. It’s clear that she truly cares about her dogs and takes the time to do her homework to ensure each puppy is placed with a responsible, loving family. Her communication was outstanding—prompt, consistent, and reassuring. She kept me updated daily with photos and videos, which made the entire experience even more special and helped me feel connected every step of the way. She was ALWAYS available for questions and check-ins, and never made me feel like I was a bother. Even after we brought our puppy home, Michele continued to check in often to make sure we were all adjusting well. She offered ongoing support, guidance, and encouragement, which meant so much to us as new puppy parents. She also hosts a private Facebook group for Boundless Hearts families, and it is a truly wonderful community filled with support, insight, and genuine love for the dogs and families involved-a total bonus that comes along with getting a BH pup! If you’re looking for a breeder who is ethical, attentive, and deeply committed to her puppies and their families well beyond pickup day, I cannot recommend Michele highly enough.

When you adopt a pup from Boundless Hearts Aussies, you not only get a puppy that is healthy and well-suited in temperament to your lifestyle, but a new friend that has already been well-loved. Michele Cliff will invite you into her community of owners who share their own experiences but who also get to know and love each new litter as if they were our own. Our Scarlet is almost three now, and Michele has been a wonderful resource for dog-parenting questions and encouragement. Her knowledge of the breed is extensive, her caring exceptional. I highly recommend Boundless Hearts Australian Shepherds.
