I'm Jessika B., the breeder behind Bowden Family Homestead LLC - SDR Pomeranians located in Mountain Home, AR. We’re a small family-run program dedicated to raising healthy, happy, and well-socialized Pomeranians. Q. & A. with Jessika
Why did you start breeding?
I started 16 yrs ago w/a great mentor learning about husbandry, breeding, grooming, training and showing Goldens. I grew up with Poms & fell in love with their disposition & beautiful coats. I've had the pleasure of working with a repro vet for a year, and eventually made the decision to start my own program with the guidance of my mentors, our veterinarian and other breeders.
What makes your program special?
My family & I put our love, sweat & tears into our furbabies. They get only the best in vet care&nutrition. We ensure each pup is placed into a home that is best suited for them&for their new family. Puppies are chosen between 8-10wks post temperment evaluation &placed at 12wks. We pride ourselves on having &producing well rounded, well socialized, & healthy fur babies, ready to take on the world.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include red, orange, cream, black, white, cream sable, chocolate merle, tri-colored, red sable, and blue merle. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

About Rizzo
Meet Rizzo – Our Blue Merle Beauty
Rizzo is a stunning Russian-imported blue merle and the heart of our home. With her striking fox-like features and vibrant personality, she truly is the epitome of happiness. Nothing gets this girl down—her cheerful spirit and loving nature shine through every day.
This will be Rizzo’s final litter, and we couldn’t be more proud of the legacy she’s leaving behind. She’s been a phenomenal dam—attentive, nurturing, and deeply bonded to her pups. In our dog pack, she plays the role of the "mother hen," always stepping in to break up rough play and looking out for the younger pups, especially when the teenage pups get a bit too rowdy.
Rizzo is a wonderful partner in every sense. She adores going on adventures and traveling, but she’s just as happy curling up in bed for snuggles. Her funny antics—like dramatically flattening herself on the ground with her legs sprawled out behind her and barking playfully at us or the other dogs—keep us laughing. She’s not an excessive barker, but she’ll always alert us when someone new arrives or when something’s out of the ordinary.
She’s excellent with children of all ages and loves everyone she meets. Rizzo has been health screened and cleared by her veterinarian for her heart, eyes, and elbows. She does have a bilateral grade 1 patella luxation, but it has never affected her joyful, active lifestyle. She has yearly wellness checks and bloodwork, and she continues to be a very healthy girl.
Rizzo is on the larger side for our program, weighing between 10–12 pounds. Her previous litters, paired with Hunter, have consistently produced puppies ranging from 6 to 10 pounds. For her final pairing, we’re planning to match her with a health-tested, AKC-registered sire under 6 pounds, preferably in black or black and tan with teddy bear face features. We’re excited to see what this last beautiful chapter holds for our sweet Rizzo.
