I'm Darin D., the breeder behind Brown Dog Acres located in Sioux City, IA. I produce top-quality pups that will continue to excel in their chosen field, whether that be hunting, or as an active companion. I strive to produce quality puppies for families that are structurally sound, healthy, intuitive and have wonderful temperaments. I raise all of my dogs with love in my home. I have high expectations for my puppies and make sure to place each one with an enriching and loving family that will match their temperament and personality. Both sires and dams have genetic testing completed and results can be made available.

Why did you start breeding?
Although I am fairly new to breeding, I am enthusiastic about ethically sharing my love for Labrador Retrievers with the world. I am devoted to ensuring there are happy and healthy Labrador Retrievers for others to enjoy, and I do so by responsibly growing this incredible breed.What makes your program special?
I have always been invested in the well-being of animals and am passionate about the work I do. My life revolves around my dogs and meeting their needs both socially and medically. I strive to bring you the healthiest, most well-rounded puppies. I can provide extensive knowledge and guidance for any family looking to bring home one of these wonderful dogs. I work with passion, heart, and integrity, and I truly want what's best for the Labrador Retriever line.What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Litter update on 06 Jan 2025 •…Good afternoon, everyone! The pups are 6 weeks old, and with that comes a visit to the vet. Here is the vaccinations and worming information. My vet recommends this at 6, 9, and 12 weeks. I figure yours is the same. I will now be getting them outside daily and introducing them to other dogs and birds. Litter update on 04 Jan 2025 •…The last two puppies went to their forever homes today. I thoroughly enjoyed this group of pups! They were an easy bunch to potty train, they are full of life, very happy go lucky. I don't take raising a litter of puppies lightly and put a wholehearted effort in preparing them for their new owners. I want to thank each of you, and I wish you all well. Darin

Looking further ahead, I want to notify everyone that with the 20th landing on a Monday, I am fine if you'd like to pick your pup up on the preceding weekend. So the 18th - 20th is fine with me. Litter update on 20 Dec 2024 •…I had the pups to the vet today for their checkup, first vaccination, and worming. They are all healthy pups! I will get a picture of the vaccination and worming out to everyone.

Litter update on 14 Dec 2024 •The pups are doing well. Eyes are open. They are getting their legs under them, too. Mom has done a great job in caring for them. Next Monday they will be 3 weeks old.

About Faith
Faith is possibly the most intelligent dog I've known. She was apparently born to hunt and compete in hunt tests because that is when she thrives the most. She has experience hunting pheasants and waterfowl (Canadian geese, ducks, snow geese). She went 6/6 in Master level hunt tests this year, earning her master title and qualifying for the Master National hunt test. Faith has passed the HRC Grand hunt test and earned herself the coveted plate at the 2025 AKC Master National hunt test. She has a great demeanor and gets along with other dogs and people. Various hunting guides have used Faith for waterfowl hunting. She is an all-around great dog!

About Grace
Grace is a 4 year old chocolate female that has been very trainable. She has had great experience hunting upland and waterfowl. This past hunting season she was pointing consistently on pheasants. She marks well and handles well on blind retrieves. This past summer she achieved her master hunt test status in the AKC. She is house trained and loves being around other dogs, as well as people.

About Lottie
Lottie is always ready to have fun and get to work whether she is hunting, training, or doing a hunt test. She marks very well and can run multiple retrieves and blinds. She is great around the house and with people and children, as well. She comes from a great pedigree and is straight out of Black Ice's Carbon Copy of Ammo Mud Bud "Buddy" who is a Master Hunter and Field Trial Champion. She's an AKC Senior Hunter with 2 master test passes.

HRCH Sir Remington of Horse Lake MH is 75-80 pounds of muscle. He is a true athlete in the dog world. He lives to hunt but is also calm and well-mannered in the house. He gets along extremely well with dogs, humans, and even cats. He's experienced in upland hunting, waterfowl hunting, and hunt tests. He loves to have fun, whether training, swimming in the lake, hunting, or just running around with the other dogs here at Brown Dog Acres.

Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
