I'm Zack T., the breeder behind BS Farms located in Washburn, MO. Hello there! Here at BS Farms our dogs are our closest family members, and most importantly our best co-worker. Cattle, goats, ducks, and the occasional kid. Our dogs are exposed to them all from the very beginning. It’s our pride and joy to watch these dogs do the work they were bred to do.

Why did you start breeding?
We have loved Border Collies since experiencing their intelligence, loyalty, and incredible work ethic firsthand. What began as admiration grew into a passion for preserving the breed’s health, temperament, and versatility. Breeding Border Collies allows me to share these exceptional dogs with families who value them as much as we do.What makes your program special?
Our breeding program is special because we prioritize health, temperament, and purpose. Each dog is carefully selected, health tested, and raised with hands-on care to ensure confident, well-rounded Border Collies. We focus on quality over quantity. From an early age, they are exposed to a variety of livestock, helping develop confident, capable Border Collies suited for work and companionship.What are the different breed coat types in your program?

About Lanie
Lanie is a sweet old soul. She has all the drive in the world while working and completely locks in on her targets. She loves playing ball and catching her frisbee. She’s definitely a daddy’s girl where ever he is she is, no matter the work or the weather she’s ready to work.

About Tuff
Tuff is a lovable goofball when he’s not working. He’s an in your pocket kind of dog that loves to cuddle. Work wise he’s all business, no matter the animal or environment he’s locked in. His favorite activity is catching his frisbee, playing soccer, and watching his herd.
Parent health testing

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Congenital Deafness (BAER, registered with OFA), Vet Wellness Exam
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

+4I was a bit hesitant about purchasing a puppy via the internet. I had lots of reservations about making such an important purchase sight unseen, and from a stranger. I called Zack and had a lengthy discussion about him, his puppies, and what made him become a Border Collie breeder. I knew within minutes, this was the puppy for me. I could not ask for a better experience. He gave me a detailed history of his dogs, answered all my questions, and sent me updates and pictures of my pup throughout the process. He was so good to work with and made every effort to accommodate me and my schedule for the delivery. I was impressed that his dogs are raised in a working environment, not just some back yard puppy mill. He is serious about maintaining the integrity of the breed and ensuring his dogs have a great quality of life. My only regret was that I could only get one from him, because all of the littermates are adorable. 5 star experience!

Zack was absolutely awesome to work with. Originally I was planning to meet the pups on a work trip, however things didn't line up and I couldn't make it out there. Zack was absolutely awesome and sent me a video that showed Callie's personality. I knew she was my next pup. Like the other reviewer I've never purchased a dog not in person before. Zack let me call him and speak on the phone for a while, he told me all about Callie, the parents, their personalities, etc. answered all my questions, and when he said he had a puppy transport company he trusted, I was absolutely sold. I got Callie today, she is an absolutely amazing pup, exactly what I was expecting. She's in great health. Great personality. The transport people were amazing too. They sent me updates every 12 hours. Absolutely amazing experience all around.
