Meet the breeder

I'm LuAnn B., the breeder behind Buehneman Shelties located in Keswick, IA. I have finished several AKC Conformation Champions, and many of my puppies have gone on to have successful careers in performance. Breeding for sound body and mind, with the beautiful sweet expression, I own mostly sables with the occasional bi-black or tricolor.

Q. & A. with LuAnn

  • Why did you start breeding?

I got my start from Beulah Hochstedler in 1983 when she let me buy 2 sheltie females from her, I didn't know at the time, but Hochstedler Althea Rose would end up being the foundation that is still tradable behind most of the dam side today.
  • What makes your program special?

I try to improve my dogs with each litter, hours are spent studying pedigrees and going over stud dogs. I also spend lots of time with several friends with the same passion of breeding the best possible sheltie.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include black and white and sable and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and a kennel on my property.
