Meet the breeder

I'm Jessica G., the breeder behind By Design Farm located in Readstown, WI. We raise working bred, health tested, ABCA Border Collies. Our puppies are born and raised in our home with our young family. We cherish each of our dogs and puppies, and we do everything we can to make sure that they get the best lives possible. That includes everything from choosing healthy parents with good temperaments, to proper socialization and daily care, to placing them in loving homes with wonderful families. We strive to provide each of our puppies and their families with a truly positive experience!

Q. & A. with Jessica

  • Why did you start breeding?

We come from farming families and raising animals has been a part of our lives from a young age. I have always had a passion for babies and reproduction. I have a bachelor's degree in Animal Science with an emphasis on large animal reproduction. We had fixed dogs all our lives until we got our Border Collie female. We developed a passion for the breed and are proud to share them with others.
  • What makes your program special?

Our puppies are born and raised in our home. We start them with ENS and they are a part of our home and family during their time with us. They also get daily time outside exploring the yard and farm. They all see our vet for health checks. Our pups tend to be very confident and well socialized. We do everything we can to give them their best start and prepare them to excel in their homes with their families.
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies include smooth and rough coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include tri-color, blue merle, red merle, black, red, white and blue merle, white and red, and white and red merle. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Jessica

Jessica has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies.

Together, you’ll choose the puppy that’s right for you, stay in touch with regular updates, and plan how to bring your new puppy home.

Price

Puppy prices include a $300 non-refundable deposit and $1,200 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“The deposit, which is non-refundable, reserves a puppy and gives you a spot on our pick list. Picks are made in order of deposit received once the puppies are around 4 weeks of age. Deposits made before 4 weeks of age do not guarantee a particular individual puppy, only that your place is held on the waiting list. Once puppies are old enough for picks to be made, then you will choose your specific puppy from those available at your place in line. While deposits are non-refundable, they do not expire. If you do not choose from the available pups or need to wait, you will roll your deposit up to our next litter. Price includes a puppy raised in our home, dewormed, vaccinated, flea/tick preventative, vet health check, full ABCA registration, an 8 lb bag of their puppy food, a puppy gift bag, and lifetime breeder support. A deposit reserves a puppy and gives you a spot on our pick list.”

Contract & health guarantee

Jessica may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase. If Jessica offers a contract or guarantee, the details will be personalized by them. If you have any questions or want to know more, don’t hesitate to reach out to Jessica directly.
