Planned Border Collie litter
Due July 2026
I'm Danita C., the breeder behind Cahill’s Canines located in Lebanon, OR. We are a top NW breeder of high-quality Border collies. Our dogs are all from AKC champion, and/or strong working lines. Our sires and dams were carefully selected and come from all over the U.S. - including Northern California, SoCal, Central Washington, Northern Oregon and Mississippi. We keep a variety of factors in mind when choosing and pairing our dogs, including health, conformation, temperament, intelligence, athleticism, trainability, beauty and working instinct. Approximately half our puppies go to wonderful new homes in Washington state. We’ve also placed puppies in loving homes all over Oregon, as well as in Alaska, California, Idaho, Georgia and Florida. We love to stay in touch with our puppy owners, including updates and photos. And we’re here to provide advice and support for the life of the dogs we produce. You’ll be asked to sign a contract that says if you need to rehome your dog for any reason, we will take it back and find it a new family. We never want any of our dogs to wind up in a shelter or rescue. That sort of situation is hard on any dog, but especially traumatizing for a sensitive breed like the Border collie.

Danita has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies.
Together, you’ll choose the puppy that’s right for you, stay in touch with regular updates, and plan how to bring your new puppy home.

“The puppy price includes a one-year genetic health guarantee, worming, first round of vaccinations, a vet well-puppy check up, and a puppy pack with toy, health records and food. Deposit is applied to price of puppy. If there isn’t a puppy that suits your needs in the current litter then deposit will roll over and apply towards a puppy from another litter born within 2 years.”
Danita may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase. If Danita offers a contract or guarantee, the details will be personalized by them. If you have any questions or want to know more, don’t hesitate to reach out to Danita directly.

Salish splash, the puppies had a bath! As you can hear, they were not super impressed! But they are fluffy, soft and smell great. They got worm preventative medicine again and flea preventative today. I like topical Advantage II for fleas. It lasts 3-4 weeks. Just a couple drops at this age.

I’ve been really happy with this food. My puppies stay healthy with shiny coats. It’s expensive and only at farm stores or pet stores. Or Chewy has it if they deliver to your address. I will send some home with you. You can mix it with whatever you decide to feed your puppy.

The puppies are five and a half weeks old. They are full of energy and have big bursts of playtime and then crash for a 1-2 hour nap. Their mama unlatched the gate to their pen this morning and they escaped. I woke up to seven puppies happily romping through the house. I take them to my vet on Monday for well puppy check ups and their first Parvo-combo vaccination. I will send all medical records home with you.

Daddy Jack LOVES agility! He gets so happy and excited. This was his first lesson of the year with our agility coach. We’re both a little rusty.

About Poppy
Poppy and Jack are both DNA health tested. Poppy has 100% clear DNA genetics. They will pass no genetic diseases to their puppies. This planned litter will be full AKC registered and the puppies will be ready to go to their forever homes at eight weeks old. Poppy and Jack both come from the best of both worlds - confirmation champion show bloodlines (both dogs’ fathers are champions) and strong working/herding lines. Poppy comes from a long line of American Border Collie Association (ABCA) registered dogs. Poppy has a medium-length, soft-to-the-touch hair coat. Jack has a long, full coat and a beautiful thick neck ruff. Their puppies will be fluffy! Poppy has a fun, silly personality. She enjoys car rides, doing agility, herding our cats, and being with our family. She also learns new tricks quickly. Her personality is a joy. She often makes us laugh. She is very loyal. Jack and Poppy are my two favorites, but shhhh, don’t tell the others. Daddy Jack has had his hips and elbows tested through OFA. His hips are good and elbows are normal with no sign of dysplasia. Jack’s registered name is Blackhawk’s Jack of All Trades. That’s what his and Poppy’s puppies will be - Jacks (and Jills) of all trades. Whether you’re looking for a confirmation show dog, a sports or trick dog, a scent dog, or a therapy or service dog, these puppies will have you covered. Jack and Poppy’s puppies will be $2,250-$2500 - merles are $2,500. Once a puppy owner is approved, a deposit of $250 is required to hold a puppy. The order of deposits received determines the puppy pick order. Deposits are non-refundable, but can roll over to a future litter born within the next two years. We are planning for 2-4 litters of quality Border collie puppies a year through at least 2029. Poppy has earned three AKC titles: Novice Trick Dog; Farm Dog Certification; and Canine Good Citizen. She is also a service dog.

About Cricket
Cricket is sweet and gentle-natured. She loves everyone she meets. Cricket loves our other dogs, cats and farm animals. She’s quick to learn and eager to please. Her submissive personality makes her biddable and easy to train. Everyone who meets her adores her and wants to take her home with them! Cricket is from our own Bella and Cowboy, who are both really nice dogs - not only confirmation wise, both parents also have kind, willing dispositions. Cowboy and Bella both come from strong working lines. Like her mama, Cricket loves to play ball. She is CKC registered. Her puppies will also be registered. Cricket is still a puppy herself, but we are planning for her first litter, probably with Jack, in the spring or summer of 2027. That pairing could produce black and white, black tri, red and white, and red tri. Cricket has been DNA health tested. She will pass no genetic diseases to her puppies. I look for Cricket’s puppies to enjoy playing Frisbee and fetch, doing agility, water sports and scent work as well as being amazing trick dogs, hiking and jogging companions and excellent family dogs.

About Bella
Update: Bella was the most wonderful Mama and truly enjoyed her puppies. She gave us three beautiful litters of eight puppies each. She is now spayed and retired. She gets to spend the rest of her days running around our farm, chasing balls and going for bye-bye rides. She is such an amazing, loving little dog. We kept two of Bella’s daughters - Cricket, who lives with us, and Daisy, who lives in a loving guardian home. We expect a litter from Daisy in the summer of 2026. Cricket’s first litter will be the following summer. A friend of mine, Elizabeth, of Croisan Creek Border Collies in Salem, OR, has a Bella x Cowboy daughter, Lady, who is Daisy’s littermate. Elizabeth expects a litter from Lady X Tuck in the summer of 2026. You can find Croisan my Creek Border Collies here on Good Dog. I*** Bella is CKC registered. She weighs 29 pounds and is slender with a petite build. She is smart, quick and athletic. Loves to play fetch, cuddle and learn new tricks. Bella “talks” and “sings.” She’s a delightful little dog and loves everyone, although she’s kind of a daddy’s girl. Bella has unusual markings. She’s a black and white split face with brindle points. We love her sweet little face. Bella and Cowboy had their first litter of puppies last June. It was a great pairing. They had wonderful puppies that their forever owners adore - smart, athletic and easy to train. Bella and Cowboy’s puppies will all be black and white. Some may have one or two blue eyes and stand-up (pricked) ears. Bella is an excellent mother, very attentive. She has quick, easy deliveries and is back to playing ball the day after whelping. She’s a natural. If you’ve never owned a Border collie or working/herding breed dog before, these pups are a good way to get started. But be careful - Border collies are amazing, loyal and intelligent dogs. They’re addictive!

About Jack
Jack comes from strong working lines and champion confirmation lines (his maternal and paternal grandfathers are both champions). Jack’s dad was featured in several TV commercials in Southern California. Jack has AKC titles for Farm Dog Certification, Canine Good Citizen, Novice Trick Dog and intermediate Trick Dog. He is double registered AKC and CKC. Jack is very attentive, athletic and loyal. I do agility with him, which he loves, and he’s won several ribbons. He’s a little wary of strangers, but warms up quickly. He adores playing Frisbee & soccer and keeping an eye on our livestock. He also likes to learn tricks and picks up new tricks and commands quickly. Jack’s been raised with older children, chickens, cats, cows, horses and a mule. He has a full, beautiful, long-haired coat and a happy disposition. He is medium/medium high drive, but also settles down for snuggling in the evenings. He is a truly magnificent dog. Jack had his hips and elbows X-rayed. His elbows are normal (elbows are rated by OFA as either normal or abnormal) and his hips are good (the OFA rates hips as abnormal, fair, good or excellent). Jack’s dad has excellent hips and normal elbows. His mom has good hips and normal elbows. Jack’s dad is genetically clear for all testable diseases. Jack has also been DNA health tested and will pass no genetic diseases to his puppies. Jack is a proven sire. He fathers beautiful, intelligent, loyal and healthy offspring. Although Jack is a classic black and white Border collie, he is a “secret unicorn” and carries many colors - red, gold, blue, lilac and tri color. Paired with the right dams, Jack can sire a rainbow of gorgeous puppies.

About Kate
Kate is the newest addition to our family. Not only is Kate an adorable golden-brown-eyed redhead, she’s also a smart, spunky, fun-loving girl. She’s double registered AKC and CKC. Kate’s dad, Flynn, is a beautiful gold and white rough-coated (fluffy) Border collie. He is 100% clear for all testable genetic diseases, and comes from AKC grand champion lines. Kate’s mom, Lila, comes from strong working lines and was born on a California ranch. Lila is a small, gorgeous lilac tri, which is a rare color. We’re looking forward to watching our cute little Kate grow up to be a healthy, full-coated beauty. In Kate’s photo section there are photographs of her, as well as her mom (lilac tri), dad (gold and white), full brother (lilac), paternal grandfather (black and white) and her uncle (her dad’s brother - he’s a black tri). We are planning for Kate’s first litter in 2026. If we pair her with Jack we anticipate black and whites, black tris, gold and whites and possibly some puppies with dilute coloring, such as blue or lilac/lilac tri) since they both carry dilute genes. If we pair her with Cowboy we anticipate 100% red and white puppies.

About Daisy
Daisy is a blue-eyed beauty with one black hind leg, one white hind leg, “angel wing” markings across her back, various other black spots on her body and the cutest speckled ears. She is registered CKC and her future puppies will come with full registration. Daisy is very smart and helpful - she enjoys helping in the garden by carrying sticks to the compost pile. She learns new tricks and commands quickly. She is very sociable and loves meeting new people, dogs, cats and kittens, chickens and ducks. Daisy loves the water and her guardian pet parents take her to play and swim in the Santiam River often. Border collies are the most intelligent breed. Daisy is not only smart, but she has an incredible memory. Daisy remembers tricks and commands she saw my other dogs perform when she was only 8 or 9 weeks old. It blows my mind! Daisy’s dog parents are our own Cowboy and Bella. Both are intelligent, biddable and easy to train. They both love people and strive to please! Cowboy and Bella are from strong working lines. Bella’s “job” is fetching anything and everything we care to throw for her. She also does many tricks. Cowboy enjoys keeping an eye on our livestock, learning new tricks and playing with our other Border collies. Both dogs are quick and extremely athletic. Cowboy and Bella also “sing” to greet us, which is really endearing. I think Daisy and Jack’s future puppies will make excellent agility dogs, hiking or running partners, herding dogs, fetching or Frisbee dogs, water activity partners, as well as wonderful, loyal companions for active families. We are planning for Daisy’s first litter in spring of 2026. We expect her and Jack to have black and white puppies, red and whites, black and white with tan points ( black tri) m, red and white with tan points (red tri), and possibly black fawn sables. Some of their puppies may have one or both blue eyes.

About Ava
Ava comes from champion confirmation show lines. She’s double registered AKC and CKC. She’s patient and calm - the calmest Border collie I’ve ever known, and I’ve had Border collies for nearly 30 years. Her personality reminds me of a golden retriever’s. Besides making loyal family companions, Ava’s puppies will make excellent therapy or service dog candidates. Ava’s love languages are playing ball and eating snacks. She was one of the most adorable puppies I’ve ever seen, with a big fluffy forehead, pretty dark brown button eyes and an adorable little puppy muzzle. And her puppies are equally as adorable - fluffy, healthy, sociable, with excellent confirmation. Ava is a beautiful girl with a thick, full honey-blonde and white coat. She’s sweet and loyal and loves to keep a beach ball in the air by bumping it with her nose. She is truly a doll.

About Cowboy
Cowboy is such a sweet, gentle, kind-hearted dog. We love his intelligence, athleticism and herding instincts. He thinks he’s a lap dog and is very sweet, a little goofy, even-tempered, and biddable. Cowboy loves learning tricks, giving high fives and hugs and “singing” to greet us. We’ve even taught him to say, “Hello.” Cowboy is registered CKC. He comes from strong working lines. His maternal grandsire is a well-known stock dog named BC Red Rover in Western Idaho. You can find a video on YouTube of Red Rover as a young dog in training. Cowboy is Embark DNA tested. He has 100% clear genetics and will pass no genetic diseases to his offspring. He’s a proven sire and fathers beautiful puppies that are intelligent and easy to train. We’re very happy to add Cowboy’s bloodline to our program.

We had a wonderful experience with Cahill Canines. Danita was honest, fair, and incredibly transparent throughout the entire process. It's clear that Danita genuinely loves her dogs and is deeply committed to ensuring her sweet puppies go to the right homes. She took the time to send us videos, which really helped us get to know our puppy’s personality and make an informed decision. Her communication was prompt and reliable, and she even met us at a convenient location for pickup, making everything much easier. It helped us connect so we can stay in touch. She is there to support us as Lady grows and learns. Danita made the transition nice when she sent Lasy with a blanket and toy that holds her mother’s scent. Lady is a happy, healthy, and confident little border collie. She has helped my other tender border learn to play and they have become good friends. It is a joy to watch them both so happy. Overall, we couldn’t be happier with our experience. If you’re looking for a caring, responsible, and knowledgeable Border Collie breeder, we highly recommend Danita at Cahill Canines.

Danita was fantastic as a breeder and turning Clyde over to us. He is a fantastic puppy, was already pee pad trained, responsive and obedient. Clyde has a fantastic personality and is so much fun to have around. I would recommend anyone considering a new pup to consider Danita. Can't say enough about the experience.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Truly Caring, Small-Scale Breeder I recently brought home a puppy from Danita at Cahill’s Canines; the experience was nothing short of amazing. She’s a small-scale breeder — not a kennel or large operation — which shows in the most wonderful ways. The puppies were raised right in her living room, surrounded by everyday life, affection, and constant care. My puppy came to me happy, healthy, confident, incredibly sweet — a true reflection of how he was raised. What really stood out to me is how much Danita genuinely cares. She took the time to get to know me, answered all my questions, clearly invested in making sure each puppy went to the right home. She even had me sign an agreement that, if for any reason I ever couldn’t keep the puppy, she would be the first option to take him back. That level of responsibility, love is so rare — it gave me even more confidence that I was getting a puppy from someone who truly values and cares for each dog like family. I couldn’t be happier with this wonderful new addition to our family. I feel incredibly lucky to have found Cahill’s Canines. If you're looking for a puppy raised with love, care, attention, who comes to you happy, healthy, well socialized, I highly recommend Danita.

Danita was amazing to work with, she was so kind and helpful throughout the whole process! I got regular updates and photos of my pup Juno (Phylis) and she was very quick to respond to any questions I had with helpful advice. Juno is turning out to be such a sweet, confident, & intelligent puppy, Danita did an amazing job raising her.
