Dixie M.

Breeder of Shetland Sheepdogs

Meet the breeder

I'm Dixie M., the breeder behind Canidae Shelties located in Gilbertsville, PA. I only have one or two litters a year, therefore, I am able to strive for healthy, well-adjusted Shelties that signify the best qualities of the breed. My dogs are either clear by parentage or tested for all known Sheltie health problems.

Q. & A. with Dixie

  • Why did you start breeding?

I already had two Shelties, but wanted a Blue Merle. That put me in contact with a breeder that had a show quality female, from then on the show bug got me, and I wanted to breed good quality Shelties.
  • What makes your program special?

I care about the dogs I breed, I want quality Shelties, that are healthy and will make, not only show dogs, but good pets.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies are sable and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
