I'm Sissy, the breeder behind Canisteo Dachshunds located in Wolf Lake, IN. Our dogs stole our hearts right from the start and we found ourselves wanting to get more involved. Breeding was a natural next step and we haven’t looked back since!

    We have had a dachshund most of my life and want to share our love for the breed by preservation to the standard.

    We are a small in home breeder who focuses on health and a breed standards.

    Our puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

    Our puppies have longhaired coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies include cream, chocolate, and black and tan. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Sissy

Sissy has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies.

Together, you’ll choose the puppy that’s right for you, stay in touch with regular updates, and plan how to bring your new puppy home.

Price

Puppy prices include a $250 non-refundable deposit and between $750 - $1,750 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“The price includes Vaccinations, Health Certificate from Veterinarian, a puppy starter pack, microchipping. Parents are akc registered. Deposits are non refundable. Our deposits are low specifically they are a show of good faith that you are investing and committing to a puppy to join your family. We reserve the right to refund under certain circumstances once the puppy is reserved.”

Contract & health guarantee

Sissy may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase.   • Patellar Luxation

    Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.

  • DNA Disease Panel

    Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).

    Sissy was always responsive and sent updates regularly and when I asked for extra pics. I dealt with another breeder for a previous puppy I got for my parents, as well as one the previous year for myself. Those dogs both tested positive for Giardia, and I shared how frightening and frustrating this was for me. Sissy assured me my puppy Jaxx would be healthy and he in fact has been. He's an amazing little guy and you can tell her puppies are raised to have a great temperament. He was very far along on his potty training when I got him, which has made it easier for me also. He's going on 7 months and is happy, healthy, and thriving. I periodically send pics with updates to Sissy and she responds promptly with compassion like she still cares about the precious babies she sends to homes. This is something she does for a living, but your can tell she truly enjoys it and she's not a negligent, irresponsible breeder. Thank you Sissy for my precious gift, you will always hold a place in my heart!
