Cape Fear Newfoundlands

Alex H.

Breeder of Newfoundlands

Meet the breeder

I'm Alex H., the breeder behind Cape Fear Newfoundlands located in Walton Hills, OH. I became involved in working and companion events first, titling my dogs in obedience, rally, and water rescue. I subsequently ventured into conformation as an owner handler. My dogs are all pets first, but with whom I can enjoy the versatility inherent and essential to the breed.

Q. & A. with Alex

  • Why did you start breeding?

Purebred dogs are worth preserving. After a decade of study, mentorship, and competitions to prove my commitment to the breed and its preservation, I bred my first litter. I love to see the previous generations come through in my puppies. It is an honor to be part of preserving the proud heritage of this noble breed.
  • What makes your program special?

The dogs I keep are intended for show and sport because that is what I enjoy, but the majority of dogs I produce are bred and raised with purpose to be loving family companions. Any dog I breed has a lifetime spot available on my couch should his family be unable to keep him for any reason at any time in his life.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies are black. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
