I'm Jackie B., the breeder behind Caprine Acres located in Shelby, MI. Our dogs are bred for health and temperament first. It is an added bonus that they are pretty to look at and can perform as well. They are raised at our farm, being exposed to livestock, kids, cats, and lots of farm activities.
Q. & A. with Jackie
Why did you start breeding?
I started in rescue, and realized how many breeders were just using poor breeding stock. This caused people to give up animals that were diseased, poor temperament, etc. It pushed me towards my goal of someday producing well rounded working dogs/partners for people that didn't want to take the roulette of a rescue dog. We bought our first Mini Aussie from a horse sale, and she gave us the Aussie bug.
What makes your program special?
We actually raise the breed in an environment they need to work in. Its not a shock when they see livestock. They are exposed to kids, goats, and farm equipment. We perform DNA genetic testing to ensure that we are not producing pups that are carrying genetic diseases. We also perform OFA's on hips.
What are the different breed sizes in your program?
Our puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include red & white, black & white, blue merle, black tri, red tri, red merle, red, and black. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Jackie was very responsive. Very knowledgable. Shows her concerns for her animals safety and yours too. She is wonderful to work with. We've had Maisy for a month now. She's wonderful. Very energetic. Very polite with children and not aggressive towards other puppies or dogs.

It is day ten, with the new puppy. Shelby is adjusting great to out routine. So delighted we found him, and Jackie ( the breeder ) on good dog. She answered all our questions and she stays informed about Shelby's progress.
