Q. & A. with Bethany
Why did you start breeding?
I have always loved animals and knew that one day I would like to have one litter of puppies for the experience. When I was in college I fell in love with the Australian Shepherd Dog and the adaptability of the breed. After college I began researching and interviewing different breeders to start educating myself in being a good ethical breeder.
What makes your program special?
We focus on producing a well rounded puppy. We do our best socializing the puppies safely, work with crate training and grooming. Our Dogs are bred to produce minimal white Australian Shepherd. They have great personalities that have the ability to adapt to whatever path you want to take with them. They will thrive as companions, family pets, sports dogs or ranch dogs with the proper training.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include black, red merle, blue merle, black tri-color, and red tri-color. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

Bethany was great to work with! She was responsive, very knowledgeable, and you could tell her and her family truly cared about these puppies. They did a good job socializing Obi! He was incredibly easy to train. He clearly had some exposure to crate training and pee pads. He picked up on his potty training in under a week! I would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for an Aussie!
I added some photos of Obi when we first got him, at 6 months (in front of floral tree), and at 1 year old.

Cart River Aussies is a wonderful breeder! Bethany was easy to work with and very knowledgeable on the breed! My pup Ranger is awesome. He’s already been well socialized, seeks out puppy pads in house, follows his new big brother well on the leash, and has been sleeping through the night. All his documents were organized and up to date. 5 stars for Bethany and her Aussies!
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
