Meet the breeder

I'm Ashley K., the breeder behind Casita Miniature American Shepherds located in Battle Ground, WA. If you are looking for a dog that you can take hiking, kayaking or a walk around the park and then come home and relax, a Casita puppy is for you! We have a strong focus on health, structure and well balanced temperaments to ensure an all around high quality adventure buddy with an off-switch.

Q. & A. with Ashley

  • Why did you start breeding?

Many years ago I got my first Mini Aussie as a pet. She was the coolest dog and before I knew it, I was hooked on the breed. One day I woke up and decided that I wanted to start showing and raising Minis. Because I wanted to do it the right way, I did a ton of research and purchased my first show quality dog. She ended up being the foundation of our program, and the rest is history.
  • What makes your program special?

Anyone can get a pair of dogs and raise a litter. But it takes knowledge and hard work to build the program and reputation that we have. We focus on temperament, correct structure, genetic health and stunning dogs. Our dogs make fantastic family companions, adventure buddies and best friends.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include black, red merle, blue merle, and red. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

I'm really lucky to be able to get Teemo from Ashley! She is very responsive throughout the whole process, patient with my questions (I had a lot of them as a first-time dog owner), and I loved her transparency. Teemo was flown to us with a flight nanny that Ashley recommended, and it was a really smooth process. Teemo adjusted to his new home really quickly, and he is the perfect pup that I could ever ask for!

Ashley was incredibly helpful throughout the entire adoption process. She was quick with responding to my questions and even worked with me to schedule time to visit with the pups prior to them being ready to go home. This allowed us to discuss which puppy best fit our household and provided comfort in knowing we were making the right decision. Furthermore, Ashley has checked in with us several times since bringing home our new pup to make sure he is settling in well and provide tips on strengthening our bond with the puppy. Ashley has also created a social media support system with all her past adoptions which provides increased support as we build our lives with the new puppy. Thanks for everything, Ashley!

I recently adopted Dorthy, a puppy from the Casita miniature American Shepherd’s Golden Girls litter. Dorthy is not only beautiful she is the sweetest puppy imaginable. We couldn’t love her more. My interactions with Ashley have been a wonderful experience. She took the time to answer my many questions starting with the time we first contacted her about adopting a puppy. She sent weekly pictures so we could watch our puppy from birth till we picked her up. I appreciate all of her knowledge and experience raising the best puppies. She makes sure each puppy comes from genetically test parents to insure healthy well adjusted puppies. She continues to offer support and has encouraged me to let her know how Dorothy is doing. Thank you Ashley for our special little girl and for your commitment to the puppies and families adopting them. Get Outlook for iOS Sent from my iPhone

We couldn’t have found Ashley and Casita Miniature American Shepherds at a better time. Ashley was so easy to work with and was very responsive with all the questions I had. When we picked Toby up he was up to date with shots and they sent us home with little care package of goodies for him. It’s been 2 months since we brought our pup home and we couldn’t be happier. He’s well tempered, so smart and not to mention one handsome little boy. We highly recommend Ashley and her pups. I hope to one day add another pup to our family.
