I'm Margaret F., the breeder behind Central Montana Gun Dogs located in Big Sandy, MT. Our labs work, play, and nap beside us throughout the day; and sleep in our bedrooms at night. They are the ultimate companions.
We select our lines carefully to produce healthy, versatile labradors that will excel at home, in the field, in the show ring, and as service or therapy prospects.
Q. & A. with Margaret
Why did you start breeding?
Of course, like any self-respecting dog lover in the 6th grade, I voraciously read DK's The Encyclopedia of the Dog, on repeat, until my parents finally broke down and bought me my own copy.
In college I studied animal science and reproduction and went on to become a veterinary technician.
Currently, I live with my family on our farm in Montana raising cows, kids, and of course, Labradors!
What makes your program special?
We breed English style labradors (think big head, large bone, lots of muscle) while purposefully preserving the drive and hunt uniquely suited to the Labrador Retriever.
While our dogs are athletic and versatile by nature, they are likewise just as calm, trainable, and loving; making them the PERFECT family pet.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include black, chocolate, and yellow. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Missy, mom
Labrador Retriever
About Missy
Missy is a LOVE! She is very friendly and has never met a dog that she wasn’t instantly best friends with. She loves being with her people and of course, snacks! She is very birdy and loves to retrieve. Missy has good bone and a lovely head. Missy has several service/working dogs in her pedigree, and this would be a wonderful litter if you are looking for a pet, service dog, or hunting companion.
Black Dog, mom
Labrador Retriever
About Black Dog
Black Dog is seriously the BEST dog that has ever lived! She was born with an “old soul”- she is loyal, intuitive, and SMART! She is the dog that even as a puppy, never once jumped up on our kids. She has always just been such a good, beautiful girl. She is a great retriever and LOVES water. Anyone who has a Black Dog puppy tells us their dog is the best, smartest lab they have ever had.
