Meet the breeder

I'm Karen S., the breeder behind Charisma Dachshunds located in Mountainburg, AR. We are a small in home breeder of beautiful long coat dachshunds. Our goal is to have only one litter at a time so that we can place all of our focus on your puppies enrichment. We believe in quality over quantity, striving to produce puppies with desired temperaments and luscious coats.

Q. & A. with Karen

  • Why did you start breeding?

My passion for dachshunds began when I adopted my first rescue in 1985. A short hair solid black girl that we called Nelly. Over the next 28 years I went on to adopt 3 more rescues, all living out their entire life with me. I decided to follow my dreams in 2016 and purchased my first dream chocolate n cream dachshund who we call Kiesha.
  • What makes your program special?

We focus on one litter at a time to ensure proper time with each puppy. Our hearts desire is for you to see the difference in your puppy when you bring them home. From how loving and happy they are to how they sleep all night without whining. We have a private group on Facebook where all of the charisma owners share updates and fun things about their puppy.
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Our puppies include miniature and standard sizes. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies have longhaired coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include piebald, cream, black, chocolate, fawn (isabella), fawn (isabella) and cream, fawn (isabella) and tan, chocolate and tan, blue and tan, blue and cream, chocolate and cream, black and tan, black and cream, and dapple. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

Could not have asked for a better experience! Karen was extremely genuine and thoughtful throughout the entire process. Constantly keeping us in the loop on how our little guy was doing. Shorty has been home with my girlfriend and I for about a week now and he’s been an absolute delight. He’s the sweetest, most loving and fearless pup ever and you can tell he was brought up in the best way possible with Karen. Truly can’t thank her enough for everything.

We recently brought home our miniature dachshund, Bodhi, from Karen, and we couldn’t be happier with the entire experience. From the very beginning, Karen was kind, professional, and incredibly knowledgeable about the breed. She took the time to answer all of our questions, provided updates as Bodhi grew, and clearly cared deeply about the health and happiness of her puppies. Bodhi came to us healthy, well-socialized, and full of personality—everything we could have hoped for in a new family member. It’s obvious that Karen raises her pups with so much love and attention, which truly shows in Bodhi’s sweet temperament. We are so grateful to Karen for bringing Bodhi into our lives, and we would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a miniature dachshund. She truly goes above and beyond to make sure her puppies are ready for their forever homes!

We recently welcomed Slinky (suky) from Karen, I was a little skeptical about getting a dog from another state, but after talking with Karen and even FaceTiming with her I knew I could trust her. She was very kind and was able to accommodate me. She really helped me get my dream dog ! We love slinky and he just the cutest little thing with a feisty little personality.

Karen was amazing to work with! She was very responsive, friendly, and knowledgeable about dachshunds. You can tell she truly cares about her puppies and where they go. My puppy arrived healthy and happy through a flight nanny, and the whole experience went perfectly. I couldn’t be happier with my new mini dachshund Slinky, I highly recommend Charisma Dachshunds.

Working with Karen has been such a wonderful experience. She is incredibly knowledgeable, kind, and responsive, making the entire process smooth and reassuring. From the first introductions to pickup day, Karen was supportive and thoughtful in every step. She even sent me photos and videos of Henry as he grew, which made me feel like I was part of his journey long before bringing him home. What stands out the most is that her care doesn’t stop at the puppy exchange—she continues to provide guidance and encouragement to help you and your new family member settle in. My puppy, Henry, has been the sweetest addition to our home, and thanks to the early exposure to different smells and noises, his transition has been so much smoother than I ever expected. I couldn’t recommend Karen more highly to anyone looking for a miniature dachshund.

Karen stood out from the beginning in our search to find a puppy. She puts so much effort into her puppies and it’s clear to see by how our sweet Stella turned out. She made the process for us really seamless as it can be nerve wracking to get a puppy from another state. She always sent us the best pictures and videos as we waited for Stella to come home. We couldn’t be happier with our little puppy and I 100% recommend working with Karen!
