Why did you start breeding?
We love our poodles and whippets! We compete year round with our dogs and have high quality proven bloodlines. Our dogs have brought us so much joy and happiness that we wanted to give back to them by producing the highest quality dogs and providing them a wonderful life with companion families.What makes your program special?
Charleston Reds Standard Poodles and Whippets has a 5-generation AKC pedigree on moms and dad or any outside stud that we use, and we offer lifetime breeder support. Our puppies are AKC registered for perfect companions! If you are looking for the perfect furry companion, look no further!What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Getting a puppy from Megan

“Our puppies are $3,000 and require a deposit of $1,000. The remainder is due on puppy pick-up day. All of our puppies are the same price regardless of gender, size, or color intensity. We ONLY sell on a limited registration, we have a strict spay/neuter contract.”

About Haku
Haku is a fantastic addition to our program and we have very high hopes for him! He finished his UKC championship in 2 short weekends beating our other high level competitors! He's about to snag his first rally title and is working hard on his FCAT title in FastCAT! We also can't wait to try dock diving for the first time this summer too! Haku is a fantastic representation of this incredible breed!

Toma is a male Whippet. Carefully selected as a great representative of his breed, Megan decided to make him part of their program. Megan has passed Good Dog’s screening process, which involved a review of their breeding practices, environment, and the mental and physical health of their dogs.
Parent health testing

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Brucellosis
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
von Willebrand Disease II (vWD II), Full Embark Panel, PRA, Rod-Cone Degeneration (PRA-prcd), Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
