I'm Elizabeth G., the breeder behind Charming Southern Shih Tzu located in Jacksonville, NC. Having dogs in our lives is such a blessing. We find so much fulfillment in providing that same companionship to other homes! We are a simple, family-run breeding program offering loving and loyal companions to others. We focus on quality care and health with each litter we raise. I have been breeding Shih Tzu for about 4 years. I'm a hobby breeder with three adult females who were bred in my home, and raised here. My main focus is health and temperament.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    I began breeding after I got a Shih Tzu and I realized how much joy he brought me. I decided that it would be nice to share that with other people.

  • What makes your program special?

    My dogs are what make my breeding program special. I absolutely breed for temperament. My dogs are all DNA tested. My dogs are clear of anything that is relevant to Shih Tzu. Once I learned about DNA, I then begin focusing solely on temperament as all of my dog's DNA is good.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Elizabeth

After buyers complete the application and screening process, Elizabeth partners with them to find the best puppy match.

“I do not pick your puppy for you. My dogs are bred for temperament, so they're already going to come to you pretty happy. I do not breed working breeds, so I have no reason to assess a dog in any way other than health. You get to pick your puppy.”

Price

Puppy prices include a $500 non-refundable deposit and between $1,300 - $3,000 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“My price includes dew claw removal, deworming, vet-checked and vaccinated, DNA Tested clear parents, AKC papers. My deposits are done for specific puppies. If something happens to your puppy while in my care, your deposit will be returned to you. I do not take deposits on future liters.”

Contract & health guarantee

Elizabeth may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase.
