Meet the breeder

I'm Kelsey C., the breeder behind CheckItOut Border Collies located in Noble, OK. Hello! We are CheckItOut Border Collies (by "we", I mean myself, Kelsey Corn, and the dogs). Breeding and competing with my Border Collies is my passion in life. I strive to produce healthy, beautiful puppies/dogs that can do anything - conformation shows, sports, or farm buddies.

Q. & A. with Kelsey

  • Why did you start breeding?

As with most people who compete in dog shows, it's pretty natural to want to raise a litter to keep your next show prospect. I love everything about raising Border Collies - from planning the breeding, seeing their little heartbeats for the first time on the ultrasound, welcoming them into the world the moment their born, and watching them grow up to be amazing adults.
  • What makes your program special?

Each litter I raise is carefully planned out with the intention for producing the best possible dogs - temperament, structure, and health all important factors to producing well rounded puppies.
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies include smooth and rough coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include blue merle, red merle, blue, lilac, red, and seal. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

  • Hip Dysplasia

Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)

Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.

  • Congenital Deafness (BAER, registered with OFA)

A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

  • DNA Disease Panel

Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
