I'm Melanie M., the breeder behind Cherrywood Kennel located in Redfield, AR. I breed UKC and AKC registered Labrador Retrievers for hunt tests, field trials, duck hunting, and active, loving forever homes. I strive to produce quality puppies for families that are structurally sound, healthy, intuitive and have wonderful temperaments. My dogs work hard, play hard, love hard, and are part of the family. I prepare all of my pups to excel in life.

Why did you start breeding?
I bred Beagles for a long time prior to breeding Labs. I love this breed and wanted to do my part in sharing it with the world in a responsible way. It is such an honor to preserve the line of these incredible dogs all the while creating companionship for others.What makes your program special?
I strive to breed healthy, quality pups for loving hunting, sporting, and/or active homes. The health and temperament of my puppies are my number one priority and I do not breed my dogs unless they are fully healthy and genetically tested. I am dedicated to always having responsible policies when it comes to breeding, socializing, and training my pups. I love what I do and truly want the very best for my puppies and their forever families.Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

Puppy prices include between $1,500 - $1,750 final payment, before taxes & fees.

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A), PRA, Rod-Cone Degeneration (PRA-prcd), Exercise Induced Collapse (EIC), Centronuclear Myopathy (CNM), D Locus (Dilute) DNA test
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
