I'm Lorelei C., the breeder behind Ciera Staffords located in Grass Valley, CA. Our pups are fully health tested and reared with Puppy Culture from long lines of Champions and dogs that excel in performance sports. We're passionate about raising well-rounded pups who will excel in any venue with their new families. We take pride in our pups and our breeding program.
Q. & A. with Lorelei
Why did you start breeding?
My parents bred Borzoi when I was young. We hunted and showed in conformation and I did a little obedience. The hobby is in my blood. I got Daphne in 2007. She and I were in the right place at the right time to start breeding and make history—she had to leave a legacy, and she did. To this day there are at least 4 breeders who are breeding down from her.
What makes your program special?
I love rearing puppies. I have been following Puppy Culture protocols since it started about 6 years ago. My 7-week puppy parties are wonderful bonding experiences for new owners and friends. I am very good at pegging behaviors and temperaments early on which helps me place puppies really well.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Patellar Luxation
Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.

A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
