Meet the breeder

I'm Dan & Dorothy C., the breeder behind Clark Kennel Shelties located in Chambersburg, PA. We are breeding purebred Shelties with good health and temperament and attractive coloring to make good family pets. We strive to ensure every owner can get the very best out of their puppy.

Q. & A. with Dan & Dorothy

  • Why did you start breeding?

Dan and I were both raised in families with dogs. When we married we got a Sheltie, then others along the road. We had a breeder as a friend who helped us through breeding one of our dogs and we decided to share our Sheltie love with other families.
  • What makes your program special?

Our primary concern is their long-term health, but also to be well-adjusted pets with a pleasing temperament. Our pups make loyal and loving companions and great dogs for the right family.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include blue merle white and tan, sable merle and white, and sable and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

If you are looking to bring this wonderful breed into your home, please give Clark Kennel Shelties serious consideration. It is evident when you meet Dan and Dorothy that they are so knowledgeable about this breed and truly love their dogs! We have had three other dogs, and can confidently say that Clark Kennel Shelties was the best experience we have had! Communication was outstanding, and they thoroughly answered all our many questions. They were totally open to both video and on site visits. The puppy parents are on site, and you can meet them. The pick up process was so smooth and pleasant with some really nice extras such as a Snuggle Puppy, a blanket and some chew toys for the puppy to go to their new home with. Our new furbaby is the sweetest little boy with the best temperament. We are so very happy with our decision to use Clark Kennel Shelties and would recommend them without hesitation!

Dorothy and Dan were wonderful to work with. They were very responsive and knowledgeable, and answered all my crazy questions. They made the process easy and friendly. We couldn't be happier with Gunnar (formerly "Ladybug Collar"), and were so impressed with how the Clarks gave the puppies a start in life as a member of the family. Everything from my initial inquiry to pick-up day was smooth and handled with heart. I can't say enough good things to adequately convey my gratitude.

We had a fantastic experience in purchasing Luna from Clark Kennel Shelties. Dan and Dorothy were responsive to messages and allowed us to have a smooth transition. Luna is nine weeks old now and a loving, sweet, and curious puppy. She is doing fantastic with potty training (not one accident at night in her crate). She loves to play and is a little shy around strangers. We could not ask for a better experience and are very pleased!

Wonderful! Our little sheltie puppy, Frisco, is growing well & learning fast. We're pretty sure he likes us about as much as we like him. 😀 Dan & Dorothy were excellent to work with, so helpful through the process, and continued great communication even after puppy came home with us.

Dan & Dorothy were AMAZING to work with! I am a first time Sheltie owner and they were more than enough help with educating me on the breed. I knew EXACTLY what I would be expecting! I picked out Benji (formerly Moe) at around 2wks old and had consistent updates on his personality, health and cuteness! We are so in love with Benji and he has become the BEST part of our family! He has the most friendliest nature and loves traveling with us and meeting new people and dogs! He has truly been a blessing to have and we cannot thank Dan & Dorothy enough for raising such a beautiful, healthy, smart and loyal puppy! I already want another one!! I would highly recommend Dan & Dorothy to anyone looking for the perfect Sheltie ❤️
