I'm Josh A., the breeder behind Coalcyn Kennels located in Oroville, CA. Coalcyn Kennels is the product of true love for the Border Collie Breed on the part of Breeder, Josh Albrecht. The Border Collies of Coalcyn are loved members of our family, spending hours of enjoyment participating in farm tasks and family life.

Why did you start breeding?
Josh Albrecht grew up moving stock with Border Collies. As his area was hit by fires, the dogs proved critical, quickly gathering animals. Others noticed that Joshes dogs had an off switch, chilling with people, not demanding a job. Josh also realized few in the breed were health testing. Josh is bettering the breed with healthy, multitalented dogs that coexist and can excel now and in the future.What makes your program special?
Our dogs are willing in a variety of activities yet possess an “off switch”. The ability to settle and be a part of the family whether out and about, moving cattle, performing canine athletic events or chilling at the end of the day. Coalcyn’s extensive health testing and refusal to breed dogs unless they are genetically healthy and able to work and bond peacefully with the family and other dogs produces truly wonderful Border Collies.What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include blue merle, red merle, brindle, lilac, sable, saddleback sable, and seal. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

"Includes limited or full akc and or abca registration, deworming, vaccinations, vet check, and microchip. My deposits are non refundable, however if there isn’t a puppy in the litter that fits your home and goals, then you deposit may be transferred to a future litter."

Hip Dysplasia (Preliminary), Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia (Preliminary)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Eye Examination (rDVM, not registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Patellar Luxation
Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.
DNA Disease Panel
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).

I love that Josh did all the testing upfront with the Parents and he was only 2 hours away. I was able to talk to him as needed or message him. Everything went great.I have had Border Collies for about 30 years and know what I like and needed and she is perfect for me at this stage of my life. Lena fit in with my older dogs and is a very easy going girl. Up for what ever is going on, easy to train and has also settle.
