I'm Jamie C., the breeder behind Cockburn’s Toy and Mini Australian Shepherds located in Gillette, WY. We raise exceptional toy and mini Aussies bred for temperament, conformation and breed standard. Our dogs are health/DNA tested. I strive to make sure every owner has the ability to get the very best out of their puppy.
Q. & A. with Jamie
Why did you start breeding?
We have had working dogs my entire life. I grew up on a cattle ranch and have always had dogs. We realized that there was a need for smaller size working dogs for those of us that have smaller farms. I fell in love with my first working toy Aussie and it was all set from there. I acquired a couple of good mentors to shape my program. We have bred for quality and working ability since then.
What makes your program special?
We raise our puppies in our home, alongside our family. Our puppies are very socialized and have been exposed to much more stimuli than most breeders. Our breeding dogs are our family. They are part of our daily life. We have a Facebook group of our buyers and we push a contract to always take our dogs back when families can no longer keep them. It’s a passion and not a hobby.
What are the different breed sizes in your program?
Our Miniature Australian Shepherd puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
