Q. & A. with Rhonda
Why did you start breeding?
Back in 1988 I fell in love with the first chocolate cocker spaniel I had ever seen. Ever since then when I bred a litter. I always kept a daughter. Here we are eight generations later.
What makes your program special?
I strive to improve my line. I always look for well adjusted and friendly temperments from the sires for my girls. Along with being correct in conformation with Champion bloodlines.

I specifically breed for Chocolate (Brown), Chocolate & Tan,
Black,
Black & Tan.
I do not stand any studs for breeding. But, if you need a referral to a stud. I can help you with that.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include black and tan, brown and tan, brown, and black. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Breeder-Reported Testing
Excellent level
Cocker Paradise reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Cocker Spaniels.
Hip Dysplasia (Preliminary), Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
DNA Profile
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
