Q. & A. with Janet

  • Why did you start breeding?

My love for Border Collies is what led me into breeding. I wanted to share everything I love about the breed—their loyalty, intelligence, and heart—while raising puppies the right way, with hands-on care and thoughtful early development.
  • What makes your program special?

Our breeding program is special because of the care and attention we give to raising healthy, happy, and trainable Border Collies. From the start, puppies receive hands-on care, ENS, and early socialization to build confidence and adaptability. We focus on setting each puppy up for a smooth transition into their new family and share regular photo and video updates so families can follow along.
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies include smooth and rough coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include tri-color, gold merle, lilac merle, blue merle, red merle, gold, lilac, and red. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

We couldn’t be happier with our puppy or with our experience with Janet. From the moment we brought him home, it was so clear how much love, time, and intention she poured into her puppies. Our little guy Minnow is confident, affectionate, and absolutely adores humans. His health is fantastic, and you can tell he came from a breeder who truly prioritizes responsible care and early development. He’s also been amazing with our other pets from day one. You can see that he was raised in a nurturing environment where early socialization really mattered. We are beyond grateful to have found such a thoughtful breeder. If you’re looking for a puppy who’s been raised with genuine care, this is the breeder you want.

Genuinely an amazing breeder. The pup's health seems perfect, and it's clear the pup had a bunch of love and work put into him. I've never seen him afraid of anything; I can drop something loud, and he's just curious about it. He's fine with his ears, paws, nails, etc., touched. He's already mostly pee pad trained for being so young! Really fast responses from the breeder, and it doesn't feel like I'm a burden asking questions. I definitely recommend!!!

Janet was great with communication from start to finish. She provided photos weekly of our little Winston and we now have so many pictures of him already. She was pretty quick to respond as well. It was the smoothest transition and would highly recommend her.

My husband and I are in our early 70’s and very active. We always walk the neighborhood dogs when needed and we decided to get our own dog! We’d had experience with a border collie, so when I looked at GoodDog for a breeder near us I saw the listing at Collie Wood Hills. The dogs looked so happy and I’d never seen a Merle breed; so we picked out our Loki right then! Janet was so helpful and always responded quickly. She sent us updates and photos weekly. I would highly recommend them with confidence that satisfaction is guaranteed! Thank you Janet!!! Doug and Denise

Janet from Collie Wood HIlls was wonderful to deal with. She was quick to respond and kept fantastic communication. She sent photos and videos regularly which helped us feel we were involved with our pups progress. Hearing Janets voice on the videos was also something that made us feel she cared deeply about her puppies, her voice was kind and gentle and meant alot to us. And the space the pups were in was clean and tidy. She helped facilitate the delivery of our puppy thru Pet Commute and everything went perfectly. From the very beginning it was an easy and comfortable experience. At 10 weeks our puppy is happy and easy to train. Thank you Janet!
