Q. & A. with Kelsey
Why did you start breeding?
As a child when I showed with a family friend I got into breeding to be able to enter more then one dog and be able to enter more events. I switched over to labs in my teen years and have stayed with my hunting breeds. Helping get rid of nasty genetic issues and producing great all around dogs has always been a passion of mine
What makes your program special?
It's a very strict small program, my pups are raised in home and come from completely healthy and great all-around parents. Each pup is handled from the first second,I use my veterinarian technician and training background to give each pup everything they need from the first breath to the time they leave and beyond.I strive hard to produce great puppy's and match the right pup to the right person.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our Boykin Spaniel puppies are liver. Labrador Retriever puppies include black, chocolate, and yellow. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Breeder-Reported Testing
Excellent level
Copper Creek Outfitters and Kennel reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Boykin Spaniels.
Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Patellar Luxation
Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
