Q. & A. with Caroline
What makes your program special?
Many responsible breeders use a program called Puppy Culture, developed by Jane Killion. It’s an excellent foundation protocol that systematizes early puppy development exercises like ENS, barrier challenges, and emotional resilience training. It gives breeders a timeline of what to do when, and it’s scientifically sound.
I’ve built something beyond that. It’s called Puppy Structure, and it’s a comprehensive behavioral development system I’ve created through over a decade of veterinary behavioral consulting. Puppy Structure takes the foundation that programs like Puppy Culture provide and expands it into something more dynamic and individualized. It integrates real-time behavioral assessment, attachment theory, and stress inoculation protocols tailored to each puppy’s unique temperament. It’s not just following a curriculum; it’s observing, adapting, and responding to each puppy as they develop.
And here’s what makes Puppy Structure truly different: it doesn’t end at placement. When you bring your puppy home, you get the complete roadmap. Day-by-day routines customized for your puppy. Training guides that build on everything they’ve already learned. And me, available whenever you need advice, support, or reassurance.
Your puppy lives in my living room for eight weeks. Not a kennel. Not a barn. The heart of my home, where their brain is forming the neural pathways that will make them an exceptional companion. I’m there 24/7, observing, shaping, responding. Every moment is intentional.
I choose breeding pairs for genetic diversity and health, prioritizing science over pedigree prestige. And when it’s time for your puppy to join your family, I personally deliver them to you.
You’re not just getting a beautifully raised puppy. You’re getting a partner in their development.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include black and chocolate. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

Puppies that learn to share at a young age are less likely to have problematic resource guarding issues as adults.
Lily, the little girl on the right still awaits her perfect family to discover her! When she’s not learning how to share pig ears with her littermates, she’s the one I call my smiley girl cause she’s always got a big smile on her face! I don’t know if she learned how to laugh from watching people and is just imitating it or she’s actually kind of laughing, either way let me know if you’d like to see videos of that. Not sure if I’m speaking to a void or not right now because I’m still trying to figure out this platform but either way isn’t she lovely!

Ok so I know Christmas was a week ago, but a week ago I had no idea how much I love this platform and this is way too cute to not share with all my new puppy loving followers. Btw!! ..the ridiculously cute one at the end is Lily, and she is still looking for her people! 🤎

About Billy Jean
Finding Billie Jean was a six-month journey that led us to a breeder in Canada who shared our commitment to preserving true Labrador temperament. After reviewing hundreds of potential dams from breeders across North America, Billie Jean stood out immediately. We chose her specifically to complement Buddy’s enthusiastic, people-focused nature with her deeply loyal and naturally calm disposition. Even as a young dog, she demonstrated the kind of steady devotion and unflappable temperament that makes a truly great mother, nurturing without being anxious, confident without being overbearing. Her genetic lines showed impressive longevity and health, with ancestors living well into their teens. Beyond health testing results, we saw structural soundness that would produce athletically capable puppies, and we observed the kind of intelligent responsiveness that makes training a partnership rather than a struggle. Most importantly, we watched her interact with people and other dogs and saw genuine emotional intelligence paired with that trademark Labrador loyalty. When you’re building a breeding program from the ground up, every choice matters profoundly. You’re not just selecting for today but for the families who will share the next decade with these dogs. Billie Jean’s first litter has validated everything we saw in her, proving that patience in selection creates excellence in the next generation.

Breeder-Reported Testing
Excellent level
Cornwell Labradors reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Labrador Retrievers.
Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Vet Wellness Exam
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
DNA Disease Panel, PRA, Rod-Cone Degeneration (PRA-prcd), Exercise Induced Collapse (EIC), Centronuclear Myopathy (CNM), D Locus (Dilute) DNA test
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
