I'm Kathy. M l., the breeder behind Countrylanes labs located in Middleburg, PA. We raise our dogs with love in our home. We have high expectations for our pups and strive to put each one into a loving family. In order to start our puppies off on the right paw, we begin training and socializing at a young age so they are set up for success in their new homes. We prioritize the health and well-being of each one of our puppies and follow all appropriate puppy health protocols.
Q. & A. with Kathy. M
Why did you start breeding?
We had our first Labrador Retriever 33 years ago and have been hooked ever since!
What makes your program special?
We are very careful and specific with each breeding. We aim for a dog with excellent looks, conformation, and personality. Each of our dogs is loving and affectionate and we aim to keep that in our lines.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies are yellow. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

Parent health testing
Breeder-Reported Testing
Great level
Countrylanes labs reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Labrador Retrievers.
Hip Dysplasia (Preliminary), Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
DNA Disease Panel, PRA, Rod-Cone Degeneration (PRA-prcd), Exercise Induced Collapse (EIC), Centronuclear Myopathy (CNM), D Locus (Dilute) DNA test
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
