Meet the breeder

I'm Kezli H., the breeder behind Couture Border Collies located in San Leandro, CA. We offer purpose-bred Border Collies to conformation, sport, working, and active pet homes. All our dogs are our pride and joy! Our dogs are health tested beyond CHIC standards and are proven in multiple venues. This includes conformation, dock diving, fastCAT, barn hunt, scent work, herding, and even doing successful therapy work.

Q. & A. with Kezli

  • Why did you start breeding?

After getting my first Border Collie as an adult, I fell in love with the breed. I devoted every day to learning more and more and absorbing information from long-time breeder mentors. While I am still a newbie in the breed, I am open, honest, and willing to learn. All of my dogs will be proven to the utmost ability in multiple venues.
  • What makes your program special?

All of my dogs are carefully selected and health screened before even thinking of being bred. I want to produce dogs that are future family members— with great stable temperaments with that smart keen trait border collies are known for.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and guardian homes.

Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.

  • Cardiac Evaluation (rDVM, not registered with OFA)

Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.

  • Shoulder Osteochondrosis

A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
