Meet the breeder

I'm Janice P., the breeder behind Covenant Collies located in Manhattan, KS. Health, temperament, and conformation are key for a sound, exceptional dog. Litters here are infrequent but of valued quality. While many of the puppies will be beautiful in the show ring, all will first and foremost be lovely companions, whether it's nap time or time to relax during a cookout.

Q. & A. with Janice

  • Why did you start breeding?

My journey in Collies is the best I have had. I got my first Collie (Dally) from a local show breeder and quickly fell devoted to the breed. As we showed, many breeders' and long-time judges' input reinforced that Dally should be my foundation girl. As there is always room for improvement, I will forever dedicate myself to learning and contributing to the beautiful qualities of the Collie breed.
  • What makes your program special?

Aside from my career as a veterinarian, I spent years garnering input from people of old vs. new philosophies, joining breed clubs, and carefully studying breed standards. Kennel blindness is dangerous, and I prioritize open-mindedness. I seek to improve the whole package, not just the characteristic Collie headpiece, and raise puppies using Puppy Culture, ENS, and Volhard temperament evaluations.
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies have rough coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include black white and tan, sable, and sable and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

  • PRA, Rod-Cone Dysplasia 2 (rcd2), Dermatomyositis, Multiple Drug Sensitivity (MDR1), Collie Eye Anomaly (CEA)
