Meet the breeder

I'm Susan C., the breeder behind Crout Kennels located in Gilbert, SC. We ensure the health of our puppies by first completing genetic health screenings of their parents. Our puppies are born in our home and become integral members of our family. They’re a daily part of everything we do until they’re ready to join their forever families.

Q. & A. with Susan

  • Why did you start breeding?

Our breeding journey began with a miniature Dachshund, named Gracey, who was our Daughter's best friend. She wanted to breed her just one time, so that others would have the opportunity to have a dog just as special as Gracey was. That was 13 years, and many dachshund litters ago! As our Dachshunds have retired, we made the transition to Labs. We have successfully bred, and whelped two litters.
  • What makes your program special?

I have completed the Avidog "Your Litter A-Z" breeding online course. Our pups go through Early Neurological Stimulation, and Early Scent Introduction, Potty box conditioning, and socialization. They are raised in our home as part of our family. They become familiar with the day to day sounds of a household. This prepares them for an easy transition to their new homes.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include black, chocolate, and yellow. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
