I'm Colleen E., the breeder behind Crown C Aussies located in Ellisville, MS. We breed quality AKC/ASCA registered working Australian Shepherds with an emphasis on natural working ability, health, conformation, and temperament. Our puppies are out of proven, health tested parents, and are raised using Puppy Culture protocols to give them the best possible start in life!
Q. & A. with Colleen
Why did you start breeding?
I have always been interested in all things reproduction. This began when I started my herd of beef cattle, and by interest in breeding later evolved into breeding Quarter Horses. Naturally, when I bought my foundation bitch I was already researching any and everything related to canine reproduction that I could either read or learn from experienced breeders.
What makes your program special?
I think what makes my program special is that I breed working Aussies who are raised using the puppy culture protocols. I have found that it is difficult to find a puppy out of working parents/bloodlines that are also raised with extensive socialization and early neurological stimulation. I produce puppies that have natural talent and are raised to be problem solvers and enrichment seekers.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include black, red merle, blue merle, and red. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

About Fancy
“Fancy” is my blue merle female I got from Boyd Ranch in 2017. She is started on both cattle and sheep. She has great natural instinct and is the best chore dog. She has very strong working lines including Boyd Ranch, Crown Point, Rising Sun, Hangin Tree, and Turkey Run! Both of Fancy’s parents were proven working dogs. Fancy has a great “off switch” and as just as happy hanging out on the couch as she is penning cows. She also has advanced obedience training and has passed the Canine Good Citizen test and is working towards taking the Urban Canine Good Citizen and the Advanced Canine Good Citizen test. There is a possibility that she will go on to take a therapy dog class and start therapy dog work. She is a great all around dog who wants to please!
Parent health testing
Breeder-Reported Testing
Excellent level
Crown C Aussies reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Australian Shepherds.
Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Canine Good Citizen (CGC), Temperament Test, Brucellosis
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
