Meet the breeder

I'm Iris B., the breeder behind D & B Ranchette located in Summerfield, FL. We strive to breed high-quality long hair dachshunds for the show ring and as beloved family members. Our main focus is on breeding for temperament and on bloodlines. Our adults are DNA tested for 174 potential defects by EMBARK. Our dachshunds are our children and their offspring our grandchildren. We only want them to go to the very best homes committed to loving and caring for them throughout their lives. Due to their superior bloodlines and careful breeding programs, their life expectancy is 16 - 22 years with proper care.

Q. & A. with Iris

  • What makes your program special?

Breeding for show produces puppies that have correct back and hip structure, head shape, and bite. These are all factors that lead to healthier and longer lifespans. You will find consistency in our litters rather than variety. Our strong bloodlines breed true, and have sought-after desirable traits. Our puppies grow up to represent and carry the traits of their parents, grandparents, and great grandparents.
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Our puppies include miniature and standard sizes. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies have longhaired coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include cream, red, brindle, and black and tan. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

I first met Iris via phone where I was more than impressed with her love, dedication, and loyalty the dachshund breed. She’s an awesome lady with an unwavering knowledge of the breed and she is always happy to share information. I selected the perfect pup from her and I could not be more satisfied with ‘Baron’. He is the perfect addition to my little family. I look forward to a growing friendship with Iris and learning all I can from her.

If I had a dream breeder to work with it would be, Iris. She is extremely knowledgeable about dachshunds and even gave us her best recommendations and practices she has been using for years. Iris is extremely passionate, cares deeply and loves her dogs immensely. I’ve used another website for a previous dachshund and it is incomparable and unmatched how this process went. The constant communication and almost daily puppy updates and photos made me feel not only connected to our future puppy but to Iris as well. Good Dog made the process so easy, that not only do I recommend this website but I would absolutely recommend Iris if you are interested in a healthy, well-bred and lovable puppy! Iris, thank you for everything. This truly couldn’t have been a better experience. We are so in love with our little fur baby. She’s the most lovable, sweetest and cuddliest little baby- and it’s all thanks to you! Thank you, Iris and Good Dog! I will be spreading your names with pride and honor for anyone seeking a healthy puppy and even for our future needs as well. With Extreme Gratitude, Melissa
