I'm Merissa G., the breeder behind Dachshundsnextdoor located in Bartlett, IL. raised right in our home and treated like family from day one. We focus on producing healthy, loving, well-socialized dachshunds with wonderful temperaments and personalities. We are passionate about matching each puppy with the perfect family. We take pride in ethical breeding, early socialization.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    Animals have always been a huge part of my life. Before breeding, I worked as a Vet Tech and was heavily involved in animal rescue, which helped shape my passion for responsible breeding and proper puppy care. I started Dachshunds Nextdoor because I truly love the breed and wanted to focus on raising healthy, loving, well-socialized dachshunds with wonderful temperaments for families.

  • What makes your program special?

    Our puppies are raised inside our home and treated like family from day one. We focus on health, temperament, and early socialization to help create confident, well-adjusted companions. Puppies are introduced to daily handling, grooming, household sounds, crate exposure, and ENS exercises. We take pride in ethical breeding, transparency, and providing ongoing support to our puppy families.

  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

    Our puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

    Our puppies have longhaired coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies include cream, chocolate and tan, black and tan, and dapple. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home and guardian homes.

Getting a puppy from Merissa

Merissa has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.

After buyers complete the application and screening process, Merissa partners with them to find the best puppy match.

Puppy prices include a $500 non-refundable deposit and between $2,000 - $3,000 final payment, before taxes & fees.

This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase. Parent health testing

  • Hip Dysplasia (rDVM, not registered)

    Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Eye Examination (rDVM, not registered with OFA)

    Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.

  • Cardiac Evaluation (rDVM, not registered with OFA)

    Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.

  • Vet Wellness Exam
