Meet the breeder

I'm Lisa S., the breeder behind Dare Devil Dachshunds located in Kitty Hawk, NC. Dachshund Obsessed is what we are :) Devoted to providing healthy puppies by responsibly growing this incredible breed. We adhere to several protocols to ensure this. It’s our top priority to make sure each of our puppy families welcomes a happy and healthy new family member into their homes!

Q. & A. with Lisa

  • Why did you start breeding?

My first dachshund of my very own was a Blue and Tan Longhair Dachshund, Wolfie ❤️ He was the most precious, quirky, loyal boy...and that boy is who we attribute the beginning of our program to. Our very first dare devil considering his fun hunting groundhogs that would try to eat my garden. After a number of years, I started researching genetics and breeding and here we are now 20+ years later.
  • What makes your program special?

We ensure that every pup goes to a wonderful forever home by carefully evaluating every adopter to ensure Dare Devil Dachshunds go to well loved homes! We also test our dogs to make sure they have great temperaments, conformation and structure, and that they are free of any genetic diseases. All pups are well socialized. They are accustomed to all the normal household activities too!
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Our puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies have longhaired coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include piebald, cream, red, chocolate and tan, black and tan, and dapple. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

From the moment little Noodle trotted into my life, I knew she was something special. She’s playful, curious, and endlessly affectionate — the perfect mix of sass and sweetness that makes every day brighter. Watching her discover the world has been such a joy; she’s full of personality and already runs the house like she owns it! Working with Daredevil Dachshunds was an incredible experience. They are so knowledgeable, responsive, and genuinely caring throughout the entire process. I could tell right away how much love and attention goes into raising each puppy. Every detail — from updates and photos to health information and transition tips — showed how dedicated they are to both their pups and their new families. Bringing Noodle home was seamless, and it’s clear she came from a wonderful start. I’m so grateful to them for helping me find my perfect little companion. Noodle has brought so much happiness into my home — I truly can’t imagine life without her now!

Lisa and Chad are outstanding to work with! They were quick to respond and they graciously answered all of my MANY questions. The love they have for their dogs and the breed in general, is obvious and so heartwarming! I haven't had experience in dealing with breeders, but Lisa and Chad are much more than people to go to for a sweet puppy! They truly are loving fur-parents that care not only about their fur-family but also the forever-homes their babies go to! I am so blessed to have traveled this journey in my search of finding my precious "Lady Mia" with them as my comforting and reassuring guide! Thank you so very much Lisa and Chad, God bless you both!

Lisa and Chad were very nice and caring folks. They introduced us to our puppy and her parents. Both are very knowledgeable about mini daschunds and took time to let us get familiar with Sandy before heading home. Good breeders.

Lisa and Chad were very responsible and very knowledgeable about dachshunds but also very helpful for a first time owner. From what I know the dogs are very well behaved and friendly with other people and they grasp potty training very well.

Lisa and Chad were so awesome. They communicated so well . Answered all the questions I had and sent pictures of the pup I was interested in. The puppy I bought is so sweet! He has the best disposition and I credit that to them and how well they took care of him. They did a wonderful job with him. I recommend them to anyone looking fir a trustworthy breeder.

Lisa and Chad were so helpful to my wife and I in introducing our daschound, Acorn, to our family. We wanted a dog who would bond with our daughter, and would get along with our 8 year old golden-doodle. Such a good pup … so thankful to Chad and Lisa for being there whenever we’ve had a question or whenever we just want to share the joy we’ve had with Acorn. She is her own self, and yet, so much a part of our family. We love her, couldn’t be happier, and it all started when we contacted Lisa and Chad at Daredevil Dachshunds. They even helped plan the surprise for my daughter right before Christmas! Such wonderful people.
