Meet the breeder

I'm Melanie & Todd D., the breeder behind Davis Family Dobermans located in Xenia, OH. Our goal is to produce puppies that make wonderful best friends, show dogs or athletes! We breed with a focus on health and temperament above all. We want all of our pups to live long, happy, healthy lives and be great representatives of our breed!

Q. & A. with Melanie & Todd

  • Why did you start breeding?

We got our first Doberman in 2007...She was the greatest dog ever and caused us to fall in love with Dobes! We decided we wanted to do our part to make this breed as strong and healthy as possible, so others could receive the blessings we've received from our Dobes! ❤️ We breed to help ensure the future of the breed, and we strive to improve upon our line's health and longevity with each generation.
  • What makes your program special?

We cherish each of our dogs and puppies, and we do everything we can to make sure that they get the best lives possible. That includes everything from choosing healthy parents with good temperaments to proper socialization and daily care to placing them in loving homes with wonderful families. We strive to provide each of our puppies and their families with a truly positive experience!
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include black and rust, blue and rust, fawn (isabella) and rust, and red and rust. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

I am so happy we found Melanie and Todd. We could not have asked for a better experience when searching for our puppy! From the beginning, they were communicative, knowledgeable, and so kind. I was immediately set at ease by the obvious care and love they have for their dogs. They conduct extensive health testing for all their dogs. Her puppies are well-bred and well-socialized from birth, as evidenced by their excellent temperaments and extreme intelligence. Melanie keeps in touch with every puppy family and genuinely cares for all of her babies. She has been an invaluable resource for us even after we brought our puppy home. She is always available to answer questions and provide resources. We are so in love with our Vienna and thank Melanie and Todd for matching us with the perfect puppy for our family! I can’t recommend them enough.

Melanie was so awesome to work with! She is very knowledgable and really cares about the health & wellness of all her pups! Right after we submitted interest, she set up a video call which was very helpful. She answered all of our questions and made sure we were a good fit for one of her pups. When we picked up our pup, she was extremely professional & gave us all of the tools and resources to successfully welcome our new pup into our home!

I went through Davis family dobermans for my most recent puppy, Atlas. It was an all around wonderful experience. Melanie, was very transparent and straightforward throughout the entire process. She went above and beyond to make the process as enjoyable and effortless as possible. She genuinely cares about the Doberman breed and how she cares for her dogs proves that. I couldn't be happier with Atlas. He has a great temperature and an amazing personality. I highly recommend Davis family dobermans for anyone looking for their next doberman puppy.

Melanie and Mindy from Davis Family Dobermans went and above and beyond all of our expectations during the entire process of picking her out, our interview with them and vice versa, to picking her up and getting her home. We are all still in contact today as they care so much for their puppies and where they are going. Which we loved about them. They were and have been also extremely responsive to any and all questions we have had and we are thrilled with our baby girl Freya! She has already brought us so much joy and is already the best behaved little baby. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Highly recommend these breeders!
