I'm Matt D., the breeder behind Deep Space Dachs located in Tampa, FL. We are a dachshund-owning family, who have owned our oldest since she was 8 weeks old. Our dogs are AKC registered, purebred miniature long-hairs. Our oldest has been bred twice, both with AKC champions, and she is now retired. We care deeply about finding each dachshund a responsible, loving home.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    My wife and I purchase a purebred miniature dachshund for our first wedding anniversary, which included breeding rights. We fell in love with the breed, and we wanted more of them in the world. We resolved to do things ethically and to ensure the health and safety of our pups, so we enlisted the aid of our veterinarians and expert breeders from our local kennel club.

  • What makes your program special?

    I am a member of the Florida East Coast Dachshund Club, the President of whom has mentored me as a breeder since 2025. Both of my litters have been sired by champion studs from Kenmar Hounds, a Platinum breeder of merit. My wife and I raise each litter ourselves, with the expert advice of fellow Club members. Our oldest dachshund loves to swim and travel with us and she lives a full life.

  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

    Our puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

    Our puppies have longhaired coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies include chocolate and black and tan. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Matt

Matt has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.

After buyers complete the application and screening process, Matt partners with them to find the best puppy match.

“We take great care in placing each puppy with the right family. Puppies are matched once they're old enough for us to evaluate their temperaments and personalities - typically around 7-8 weeks - and following a discussion with the buyer to ensure they are a fit.”

Price

Puppy prices include a $500 non-refundable deposit and between $1,500 - $3,000 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“The price includes the guarantee, AKC registration, first round of vaccinations, deworming, and puppy socialization. Non-refundable deposit secures your right to adopt an agreed-upon puppy and includes registration and microchip.”

Contract & health guarantee

Matt may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase.
